The Ministry of Construction has just issued a decision approving the Detailed Planning for the development of land and seaport areas in Tra Vinh for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, the approval of the Detailed Planning for the development of land and seaport areas in Tra Vinh includes the following wharf areas: Duyen Hai - Dinh An; Tra Cu - Kim Son; buoy wharves, transshipment areas and anchorage areas, storm shelters.

The target by 2030 is to have cargo throughput from 12.9 million tons to 15.2 million tons. Regarding infrastructure, there will be a total of 8 ports including 17 wharves with a total length of 3,991m (excluding other ports). At the same time, determine the scope of land and water areas suitable for the scale of the port and meet the demand for cargo throughput. Vision to 2050, cargo throughput will have an average growth rate of about 5.5-6.1%/year. Regarding infrastructure, new ports will continue to be developed to meet the demand for cargo throughput.
The Ministry of Construction requests relevant agencies to announce, inspect, supervise the planning and perform the function of maritime specialized management at Tra Vinh seaport according to their authority. At the same time, study and propose the Ministry of Construction to consider and decide on updating, supplementing, adjusting the scale, functions, and progress of the implementation of bridges and ports; study and propose amendments to legal documents regulating the management, exploitation and solutions for management and exploitation of ports in Tra Vinh seaport.
