Approval of the project for eco-tourism and entertainment of Vu Quang National Park

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the Project on eco -tourism , resort and entertainment of Vu Quang National Park, period 2025 - 2030.

The project was issued to exploit the natural potentials of landscape, environment, biodiversity and diversity of forest ecosystems, historical and cultural relics, etc. to develop ecotourism, resorts and entertainment towards sustainable development. Create a legal basis to attract investment from businesses and investors to create resources for the construction and development of ecotourism, resorts and entertainment in Vu Quang National Park.

Improve management capacity for Vu Quang National Park; create conditions for local people to participate in tourism, thereby creating jobs, increasing income, improving material and spiritual life; raise awareness of forest protection, environmental protection, biodiversity protection and conservation, promoting local cultural values.

According to the project, by 2030, it is estimated to attract at least 15,000 tourists, of which the number of international visitors accounts for at least 8% of the total number of visitors. The rate of overnight visitors accounts for 30% of the total number of visitors, the total revenue reaches at least 20 billion VND; of which the annual revenue from renting the forest environment reaches at least 500 million VND. Creating regular jobs for about 500 workers, of which about 100 direct workers and 400 indirect workers. Workers are trained in professional skills and ecotourism associated with community livelihoods.

Attract at least 5 investors to cooperate, link and rent forest environment to develop eco-tourism. Improve quality, diversify and perfect tourism types and products, develop a synchronous and modern tourism infrastructure system, diverse and high-quality tourism products with typical products of Vu Quang National Park.

Vu Quang National Park is assigned to manage 57,029.84 hectares of forest and forestry land, of which the planned area of special-use forest is 52,733.13 hectares; the planned area of protection forest is 3,688.85 hectares; the planned area of production forest is 607.86 hectares.

Vu Quang National Park is assessed by domestic and foreign experts as the area with the highest biodiversity in the region. The park has a rich and diverse flora with the presence of 1,616 species of useful plants; non-timber forest products include 13 groups out of a total of 1,823 species recorded in the area, belonging to 202 families of vascular plants. Some large-sized precious timber species such as pomu, du sam nui dat, green lim, hoa dan giag, three-sided oak, dracontomelon and some other rare species.

The fauna consists of 6 classes (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects) including: mammals: 94 species belonging to 27 families, 11 orders; birds: 315 species belonging to 50 families, 15 orders; fish: 88 species belonging to 21 families, 9 orders; reptiles: 58 species belonging to 15 families, 2 orders; amphibians: 33 species belonging to 6 families, 1 order; butterflies: 316 species belonging to 10 families, 1 order. Some rare and endangered species endemic to the Truong Son range include: saola, large-antlered muntjac, brown-shanked douc langur, white-cheeked gibbon, Truong Son striped rabbit, sun bear...

Vu Quang National Park has many beautiful, pristine landscapes (Thang Day waterfall, Trai Cua, Da Ban island, Rao Co peak, Rao Rong stream...). The forest in Vu Quang National Park has a high level of biodiversity, especially here there is Ngan Truoi irrigation lake, Da Han irrigation lake with dozens of different large and small islands, this is a great potential for developing eco-tourism, resorts, and entertainment.

Types and tourism products identified in the project include: eco-tourism; picnics; scientific research tours; visits to historical sites and scenic spots; cruises; adventure tourism, exploration combined with mountain climbing; resort tourism... Tourism products: accommodation and resort services; cuisine, sightseeing, camping; adventure exploration, boating, mountain climbing; organizing conferences, seminars, scientific research,...

The proposed eco-tourism routes include: exploring the botanical garden; exploring Da Ban Island; exploring Thang Day waterfall and the thousand-year-old pomu complex; exploring Phan Boi Chau citadel and the ancient crocodile forest; conquering Rao Co peak.
