In the history of the nation, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers has become a symbol of indomitable will, absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, solidarity and sacrifice for independence and freedom. Although they have left the army, the war veterans of the capital still maintain that quality, continuing to be attached to the cause of Party building, socio-economic development, educating the younger generation and protecting political security and social order and safety.
Under the leadership of the Hanoi Party Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, the Hanoi Veterans Association has been a solid support for the Party Committee, government and people, contributing to building a "civilized - modern" capital.

Steadfast , exemplary
The Hanoi City Veterans Association currently has nearly 290,000 members, of which 95,468 are Party members and more than 15,600 are senior officials who have held many important positions. This is a force rich in experience and courage, having been through life and death in combat, trained through fierce challenges and always steadfast in the goals and ideals of the Party and Uncle Ho.
For them, serving the people and protecting the Fatherland is not only a wartime duty but also a lifelong responsibility. Returning to normal life, each member of the Veterans Association is still a shining example, preserving and promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, actively participating in all areas of social life, from Party and government building, security protection to economic, cultural and social development at the grassroots level.
In particular, identifying participation in building a clean and strong Party and government as the top priority, the Association at all levels has proactively coordinated closely with local organizations and units.
From the practical implementation of Program 01-CTr/TU of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee on Party building and rectification, to major political events such as Party Congresses at all levels, elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, the City's War Veterans Association has mobilized more than 39,000 members to participate in serving, protecting security and doing propaganda work.
After the Party Congress, more than 9,000 members were elected to the Party Committee, 2,715 members were elected as People's Council delegates at all levels, becoming a force directly involved in planning, supervising and organizing the implementation of important decisions. Not only that, the Association at all levels selected more than 4,200 members to participate in 1,165 social debates, contributing hundreds of quality opinions to the socio-economic development plan, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and strengthening national defense and security.
In any field, the Capital War Veterans always uphold the spirit of responsibility. They are exemplary in participating in the on-duty force, maintaining security and order with more than 256,000 members. The models of "Exemplary War Veterans Group to protect political security, social order and safety" or "War Veterans propagandize and mobilize land clearance to serve the development of the Capital's infrastructure" have become bright spots, replicated in many provinces and cities.
Especially in difficult times such as the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic or the implementation of the Ring Road 4 project - Capital Region, the members of the Veterans Association are not afraid of hardship, going to every alley, knocking on every door, mobilizing people to comply with policies and create high consensus. They are truly the "bridge" between the Party, the government and the people, realizing the spirit of "unanimity from top to bottom, smooth communication" that the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once emphasized.
" Passing the torch " to the younger generation
Deeply aware of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Educating the next generation of revolutionaries is a very important and necessary task", in the period of 2019 - 2024, the Hanoi City Veterans Association coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize more than 2,800 meetings with historical witnesses, discussions, telling stories of battles, visiting historical and cultural relics... attracting more than ten thousand union members, youth, students and pupils to participate.
The authentic stories, battlefield relics and vivid examples of war veterans have aroused national pride, love for the heroic and cultural capital and the sense of responsibility of young people in studying, working and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, the Association also actively guides ideology, raises revolutionary vigilance, accompanies young people in starting and establishing businesses, and builds the model of "Hanoi Youth: Pure Heart - Bright Mind - Great Ambition".
Not only pioneering in political and social work, the Association of War Veterans at all levels also actively participates in the movement "Capital War Veterans unite to help each other develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably and carry out charitable activities". Many war veteran businessmen have boldly invested, expanded production and business, creating jobs for members and local workers. Activities to honor people with meritorious services, help families in difficulty, and social charity are maintained regularly, spreading the spirit of "the rich help the poor".
Along with that, the Association proactively coordinated with departments and organizations to implement the movements "All people protect national security", "Elegant and civilized Hanoians", prevent crimes, social evils, maintain traffic order and safety... These persistent contributions have contributed to creating a stable and safe social environment, promoting the economic and cultural development of the Capital.
Entering the period of 2025 - 2030, the Hanoi City Veterans Association sets out the requirement for strong innovation in thinking and operating methods, in line with a streamlined, effective and efficient organizational structure. Some key tasks are identified:
Firstly, continue to improve the quality of participation in Party and government building, prepare well for Party Congresses at all levels, election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies for the new term; strengthen the fight against erroneous viewpoints, protect the Party's ideological foundation; join hands in implementing national digital transformation and building a two-level government.
Second, promote the role in socio-economic development, build civilized and elegant Hanoians; promote the movement "War veterans help each other do business"; protect the legitimate rights and interests of members; arouse the desire to contribute of war veteran entrepreneurs; take care of charitable activities.
Third, build a strong and comprehensive Association organization, especially focusing on training a team of Branch cadres with qualities, capacity, prestige; creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility.
Fourth, strengthen exchanges and experiences with Veterans Associations nationwide; expand people-to-people diplomacy activities, promote the image of the thousand-year-old capital, the city for peace; learn and apply the world's quintessence into practice.
Under the direct leadership of the Hanoi Party Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Party Committee of the city, the Hanoi Veterans Association has been and will continue to affirm its core role in the political system, being a reliable support for the Party Committee, the government and the people. The tradition of "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplary - Innovation" and the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers will forever be the guiding principle for each Veterans Association member to continue to devote their intelligence and efforts, contributing to building the capital Hanoi "civilized - cultured - modern", worthy of being the heart of the whole country.
