On the evening of August 18, at a theater in Hanoi , the auditorium was packed with audiences during the premiere of Red Rain. Not only were there artists and beauty queens, but also veterans who fought directly in the Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. Their presence made each scene of the film more sacred.

Based on the script by writer Chu Lai, the film recreates 81 fierce days and nights, where “blood and bones were shed, and names were recorded on earth and sky”. In two hours, Red Rain takes viewers from the tension and suffocation in the smoke of war to moments of silence for comradeship and love for the Fatherland.

Director Bui Thac Chuyen, who had success with Tunnels: Sun in the Dark, shared: “If making a normal film requires one effort, then with war and history, the crew must try ten times harder, even more. This genre requires the highest level of production. I also made war films, but Red Rain is really much more difficult and on a larger scale.”
During this special premiere, Director Dang Thai Huyen confided: “Having pursued the project for many years, I just want to send my deepest thanks to all my collaborators, colleagues, comrades, teammates… A director alone cannot shoulder everything. Today’s success belongs to the whole team.”

The audience in the theater was silent many times before the tragic battle scenes. Writer and veteran Nguyen Van Tho emotionally wrote: “For two hours, the audience was breathless because of many elaborate scenes. As a soldier who had been through 11 years of war, I still could not hold back my tears when the war was recreated realistically, without avoiding the pain...”

Colonel Nguyen Van Hoi, a veteran of Battalion K3 Tam Dao, who fought through bloody days and nights in Quang Tri, choked up: “The film has brought back to life the 81 days and nights of Quang Tri Citadel. My comrades who lay there are probably smiling with satisfaction. The Citadel is 500m wide in each direction, and our battalion sacrificed more than 1,000 people. Thank you, director, for breathing life into Red Rain so that we can relive those years...”.
After the premiere of Red Rain in Hanoi, the song “Pain in the Middle of Peace”, the main soundtrack performed by singer Hoa Minzy, was played, making the whole audience moved. The soulful melody and profound lyrics touched everyone’s heart, reminding them of the losses and sacrifices in exchange for today’s peace. Many viewers quietly wiped away their tears, while veterans were moved as if they were reliving their war days.
