Promoting the value of Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space

Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space has a unique architecture in the largest specialty tea region, which is honored as the “First Famous Tea” of Thai Nguyen. Assigned to manage this cultural institution and community tourism destination, Thai Nguyen Museum has made many efforts and innovations to attract tourists, contributing to promoting and introducing Thai Nguyen tea, honoring the land and people here.

12 km west of Thai Nguyen city, Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space is located on an area of ​​1.7 hectares in Soi Vang hamlet, Tan Cuong commune, and has been in operation since the International Tea Festival - Vietnam in 2011. This is a cultural institution, a place to preserve, conserve and introduce the national intangible cultural heritage of Tan Cuong tea growing and processing knowledge and a community tourism destination of Thai Nguyen province. Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space consists of three construction items: Outdoor exhibition space, exhibition house and tea tasting space. The outdoor exhibition space includes a festival yard, a stage for organizing the Spring Tea Festival - Tan Cuong specialty tea region, community cultural activities; there is a "Kindness Teapot" shaped like a traditional Vietnamese teapot, recorded in the record as the largest ceramic teapot in Vietnam. The exhibition house space preserves many images of Party and State leaders visiting Tan Cuong tea region; Models of the lush green tea hills typical of four famous tea regions in Thai Nguyen, known as the "Four Great Tea Regions" including Khe Coc (Phu Luong district), La Bang (Dai Tu district), Trai Cai (Dong Hy district) and Tan Cuong (Thai Nguyen city); faintly visible are the images of stilt houses symbolizing homestays, a popular community tourism model in the tea region. A collection of teapots and cups used for enjoying tea from the 19th century to the present is displayed, demonstrating the culture and tea drinking style of Vietnamese people through historical periods. The second floor of the space displays the history of the birth and development of tea trees and the tea industry in Tan Cuong. The tea-enjoying space recreates the traditional tea processing process, instructing how to make tea with bright green-yellow water, the rich aroma, the sweet aftertaste of Tan Cuong tea and how to enjoy tea. Director of Thai Nguyen Museum Tran Thi Nhien said: “The Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space was built in the center of the Tan Cuong tea region, with beautiful architecture and natural landscape, suitable for cultural, sports, tourism activities and sightseeing, learning and researching the history of tea culture, land and people of Thai Nguyen. Recently, we have connected with the education and training sector, the tourism sector inside and outside the province, and community tourism addresses in the tea region to bring students and tourists to visit the Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space, the tea region in the region; actively contributing to introducing and promoting tea culture, tea products and tourism in the First Famous Tea Region - Tan Cuong”. Visiting the Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space, which is also a community tourism destination, visitors can feel the history of the formation and development of the tea profession, tea culture and enjoy the value of Tan Cuong tea specialties. From here, visitors can spread out to surrounding tea areas to experience the landscape, harvest, process, and trade tea at cooperatives, tea experience points Hao Dat, Tien Yen, Thang Huong, Minh Thu... Thai Nguyen province aims to bring tea trees and the tea industry to 25 trillion VND in revenue by 2030, an increase of about 45% compared to present. Linking tea culture with tourism, in which promoting Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space is a connecting and spreading point, contributing significantly to achieving that revenue. Many opinions suggest that it is necessary to expand the area at Tan Cuong Tea Cultural Space to invest in construction, upgrading, and expanding experience spaces, introducing cultural heritage, specialized exhibitions, outdoor exhibitions, promoting tea culture, festival grounds, and parking lots to meet the increasing needs of sightseeing, research, and learning of tourists everywhere. According to Ms. Tran Thi Nhien, when this cultural institution is upgraded and expanded, Thai Nguyen Museum will develop a plan to design the overall display space, promote Thai Nguyen tea, and build it as a "Tea museum" with scientific, logical, and aesthetic values ​​so that this place can truly become a center for research, display, and introduction of Thai Nguyen Tea culture, the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of knowledge of growing and processing Tan Cuong tea worthy of its position as the province known as "The first famous tea" associated with community tourism in the tea region, promoting local socio -economic development.
