Cunha received great expectations when he came to MU. |
Manchester United's new signing Matheus Cunha has just made a surprising revelation: he is hanging Marcus Rashford's No. 10 shirt at his home, just a few days after officially taking over this iconic number at Old Trafford.
Despite taking over Rashford's shirt, Cunha insisted he had great respect for his senior. "I swapped shirts with Rashford and I have his shirt hanging in my house. The number 10 shirt is associated with the legends I watched as a child, especially Rooney. It is an honor to wear this shirt."
The Brazilian striker joined the Red Devils from Wolves for £62.5m and was quickly handed the No. 10 shirt, previously worn by legends such as Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Notably, Rashford was the last to wear the number before his relationship with coach Ruben Amorim broke down.
Last season, Cunha contributed to 21 goals (15 goals, 6 assists) in the Premier League for Wolves, a performance that was superior to Man Utd's strikers, where Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo only had 8 goals each. He is expected to help change the "Red Devils" deadlocked attack.
Matheus Cunha will begin pre-season with Man Utd on July 19, with a friendly against Leeds, before heading to the US to participate in the Premier League Summer Series.
