Beer advertising billboard 'right on the front of the Provincial Post Office building

In recent days, Tay Ninh residents passing by No. 01 National Highway 1, Long An Ward, Tay Ninh Province were surprised by the appearance of a large beer advertising billboard, covering almost the entire front of the Provincial Post Office building - a building that has been considered an urban architectural highlight for many years.

Advertising billboard right in front of the building

The Provincial Post Office Building is located in a "prime" location right in the center of Long An ward, Tay Ninh province, in front of National Highway 1, near the intersection with National Highway 62. This is a place where a large number of people and vehicles pass by every day, and has long been considered a project closely associated with the lives of local people.

However, since early August 2025, a beer advertising billboard with the image of two large beer bottles and the slogan "Pop it up, wake up your courage" has been installed right in front of the building, occupying a large area, making the architecture of the building almost overshadowed.

Many people think that the beer brand advertising billboard located right in front of a public building is inappropriate and affects the urban beauty.

Through investigation, this advertising billboard was approved by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh province for a company based in Hanoi to implement. According to the document issued on July 29, 2025, signed by Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Thanh, the billboard has an area of 40m², with a hanging period from August 1, 2025 to August 1, 2026.

The document also clearly states that the implementing unit must take full responsibility before the law for the legality of the trademark, advertising content and comply with legal regulations, including Decision No. 2756/QD-UBND, dated November 13, 2018 and Decision No. 450/QD-UBND, dated March 8, 2024 of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee on outdoor advertising planning for the period 2018 - 2030.

At the same time, the Department requested the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of Long An ward to coordinate in inspecting and providing guidance to ensure proper implementation.

Although the installation of beer advertising billboards has been approved by the authorities, the fact that the advertising image is too large and placed on the main facade of a symbolic building such as the Provincial Post Office Center has caused many people to be concerned.

Some opinions say that advertising beer - an alcoholic beverage - right in the city center is not really culturally appropriate, while the urban aesthetic factor has not been thoroughly considered. "Passing by and seeing the familiar Post Office building now almost completely obscured, I feel sorry. If it were a different advertisement, or a more reasonable location, it would be more acceptable" - one resident expressed.

Another view of the building

Commercial advertising is a legitimate and profitable activity, but the choice of location, type and content needs to be carefully considered, especially when associated with iconic architectural works that have long been associated with the community.

In the context of Tay Ninh and Long An ward aiming to build a civilized and modern urban area, ensuring harmony between advertising benefits and preserving urban aesthetics and cultural and historical values of public works is an issue that needs to be considered and adjusted appropriately by competent authorities and localities./.
