"The joy is hard to describe in words," athlete Phan Nhung expressed after she and her teammate Bach Hop won the women's doubles championship in the 5.0 category of the "Dan Tri 20 Years - Brilliant New Day" pickleball tournament held on the afternoon of July 6 in Hanoi .

Although rated higher when facing the couple Vu Ngoc Diem and Vu Thu Hang in the final match, Phan Nhung and Bach Hop faced many difficulties against the opponent's intelligent and technical playing style.

Although leading their opponents 6-2 with strong attacking play right from the start, Phan Nhung and Bach Hop gradually lost their advantage when Ngoc Diem and Thu Hang scored points at the net with great technique, especially exploiting the gaps at the back of the court.

The couple Phan Nhung - Bach Hop had to use the time-out when their opponents were leading 9-8 to regain their composure and confidence.

Finally, with their courage and extensive experience, Phan Nhung and Bach Hop defeated Ngoc Diem - Thu Hang with a score of 15-9 to be crowned champions in the final event for women at the Dan Tri newspaper pickleball tournament.

"We feel very happy, having succeeded in achieving the goal set before this tournament, which was to stand on the highest podium. This is a very difficult tournament with many excellent athletes participating.

Our journey to the championship was not easy, there was even a time when we thought we would be eliminated in the second round when we met two young female athletes who played very confidently and strongly. They were young, but we were lucky to have better competition experience to win.

The final match was not easy, fortunately we overcame the difficult times to win the championship," athlete Phan Nhung expressed.

Notably, athlete Phan Nhung has a technical background from playing table tennis, combined with Bach Hop who is a tennis player, so the two have good coordination, promoting each other's strengths in dipping the ball at the net or finishing the ball in the air.
