On April 11, the Thanh Hoa Province Center for Disease Control said it had received information that dozens of people in Quang Bieu village, Vinh Hoa commune had itchy skin.

Over the past three days, the provincial Center for Disease Control has coordinated with Thanh Hoa Dermatology Hospital to investigate the cause, examine, treat, and provide medicine to local people.

To date, 43 people have suffered from skin diseases with varying degrees of damage such as red spots, papules, itching, and thickened skin in the waist, abdomen, back, waistband, legs, arms, and groin.

Some patients have been examined and treated at medical facilities but have not been cured. Currently, some people have had their itching and skin lesions relieved; there are no signs of the itching spreading to the surrounding area.

Based on the results of epidemiological investigation and medical examination, Thanh Hoa Provincial Center for Disease Control believes that this is a cluster of cases with the same time, location, and similar skin lesions at many levels.

No unusual factors related to insects have been recorded, and no cause of poisoning due to water sources or the environment of the patient's living area has been recorded.

Therefore, initially, Thanh Hoa Provincial Center for Disease Control determined that this was a cluster of scabies cases caused by the parasite Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis in Quang Bieu village.

For skin lesions caused by scabies, pruritic papules and seasonal dermatitis, antihistamines, corticosteroids and DEP are indicated.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online on April 10, a few weeks ago, many people in Quang Bieu village, Vinh Hoa commune, had itchy rashes and scratched their skin. At first, people only had itchy skin on exposed areas such as hands and feet, then it spread all over the body, causing fatigue.
