Many key projects will help Soc Trang take off

Comrade Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, said that the Xay Da B Industrial Cluster is located in Ho Dac Kien commune, Chau Thanh district with a total area of 53.9 hectares invested by DinTsun Holding Company Limited. The Cluster project has a duration of operation of 50 years, with a total investment of about 888 billion VND (excluding factory construction costs). After completing legal procedures and construction items, on April 4, 2025, Xay Da B Industrial Cluster was officially inaugurated and put into operation. This is the first Cluster project in Soc Trang province to attract FDI investment.

According to the plan, the Xay Da B Industrial Park will attract projects such as: garment, fabric, weaving, embroidery, printing, dyeing; paper box production; electronics; agricultural, forestry and aquatic product processing; export goods; food and foodstuff production industry; mechanical engineering and other supporting industries serving agricultural production. These industries will need a large number of workers, creating jobs for local workers, eliminating the situation of leaving home to work abroad. After being filled, the Xay Da B Industrial Park will create jobs for about 5,000 workers.

In particular, if businesses have demand, the area of the industrial park can be expanded from 53.9 hectares to 75 hectares and the number of employed workers will increase. According to comrade Tran Van Lau, the Xay Da B Industrial Park project is an important and meaningful project for the locality. The project, when completed and put into operation, will contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of Chau Thanh district and Soc Trang province. When the project is put into operation, it will create momentum and convenience for Chau Thanh district to call for and attract investors to the new Xay Da B Industrial Park.

It is known that Xay Da B Industrial Park is one of 18 industrial parks in the planning of Soc Trang province approved by the Prime Minister. When Xay Da B Industrial Park comes into operation, stable production will create conditions for the economic growth of Chau Thanh district, at the same time contributing to increasing the industrial production value of the whole province, especially opening up opportunities for the province in promoting investment in other industrial parks throughout the province.

Tran De Industrial Park (IP) is located in Ngan Ro 1 Hamlet, Tran De Town, Tran De District, with a scale of 160 hectares, total investment and infrastructure construction of over 1,230 billion VND. Up to now, the technical infrastructure items have been basically completed, ensuring the necessary conditions to call for secondary investors to participate in investment and exploitation in this coastal IP. Tran De IP is invested by Ha Thanh Concrete Joint Stock Company, project scale is 160 hectares, located in Ngan Ro 1 Hamlet, Tran De Town, Tran De District, Soc Trang Province.

Tran De Industrial Park project has a total investment capital of over 1,230 billion VND, with an operating period until 2069. Tran De Industrial Park is an industrial park that concentrates a variety of industries and services, mainly light, clean industries that cause little pollution or have no negative impact on the surrounding area, such as: agricultural, forestry and fishery processing; food production and processing; beverage production; shipbuilding and repair; production of electronic products, computers and optical products; production of automobiles and other motor vehicles; processing and manufacturing industries; repair, maintenance and installation of machinery, equipment and other economic sectors...

Comrade Lam Van Man, Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, said that Tran De Industrial Park has a very favorable location when it is located next to the South Hau River National Highway, adjacent to the sea, Tran De port, so connecting with provinces and cities is easy. In particular, after the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway phase 1, Dai Ngai bridge, especially Tran De seaport is formed, it will create a position and strength for Tran De Industrial Park in attracting domestic and foreign investors. The comprehensive traffic network connecting both roads and waterways helps optimize logistics costs, effectively supporting investment, production and business activities of enterprises in the Industrial Park. Tran De Industrial Park is planned to be located in the center of the abundant raw material area for agricultural, aquatic, seafood and marine fishing to provide raw materials for the food processing industry, etc.

In addition, Soc Trang has over 1.2 million people, the working-age population accounts for a large number, so the source of unskilled labor is abundant, which can meet the needs of businesses if they invest in production and business in the Industrial Park.

According to comrade Lam Van Man, Tran De Industrial Park is a very important project, which has been closely led and directed by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee. Once completed and put into use, the industrial park will create jobs for about 15,000 local workers. Although implemented in difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, scarcity of materials... the investor has had many positive solutions, and has so far completed the synchronous construction of infrastructure according to the approved project. "When the secondary construction projects are completed and put into operation, it is expected that Xay Da B Industrial Park will create jobs for about 10,000 workers, contributing to creating more industrial production value and developing the local socio-economic situation", comrade Lam Van Man added.

In addition to the Xay Da B Industrial Park, An Nghiep Industrial Park (An Hiep Commune, Chau Thanh District) has now been filled with secondary investors, creating jobs for about 22,000 workers. Tran De Industrial Park, after the inauguration of the technical infrastructure, will create jobs for about 15,000 workers. It is known that the expected land rental price at Tran De Industrial Park will fluctuate from 85 - 90 USD/m2 from now until 2069. Currently, Tran De Industrial Park has been granted investment certificates by the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board for 2 secondary investors in the field of construction materials and concrete components production. In addition, there are a number of investors in the fields of seafood processing, leather shoes, garments, packaging production, etc. who are also interested and want to invest in Tran De Industrial Park.

In addition to the above two projects, there are currently many large projects in Soc Trang province that have an impact on the socio-economic development of the locality as well as the region, such as: Tran De deep-water port project is planned offshore to take on the role of a gateway port in the Mekong Delta region, receiving ships with a capacity of up to 5,000 DWT for ports in the river; general cargo ships, containers with a capacity of up to 100,000 DWT or larger when qualified, bulk cargo ships with a capacity of up to 160,000 DWT offshore Tran De estuary; Dai Ngai 2 bridge project (part of the Dai Ngai bridge project across Hau river, connecting Tra Vinh province with Soc Trang) was technically opened to traffic on April 30, 2025; the expressway component 4 project (Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang road) is being implemented; the East-West economic development axis road project has a total investment of VND 2,000 billion with a length of 56.678km.

When completed, the project will connect the western area of Soc Trang province with the provinces of Bac Lieu, Hau Giang, Can Tho and Ca Mau through connecting National Highway 1 and Phung Hiep Highway, creating horizontal and traffic axes linking agricultural and forestry economic zones and meeting the travel and freight transport needs of local people, contributing to promoting production and business activities and improving the lives of rural people in the province.

According to Dr. Tran Khac Tam, Chairman of the Soc Trang Provincial Business Association, the province has many advantages and potentials in many fields such as industry, seaports, logistics, renewable energy, etc., which attracts many domestic and foreign investors to Soc Trang to seek opportunities for cooperation and development. By the end of 2024, the province's economic growth rate will reach 7.07% (equivalent to the economic growth rate of the whole country). In 2025, the province strives to achieve a growth target of 8%. In recent years, Soc Trang has become the destination of many large domestic and foreign investors. This shows that the investment potential in the province is very large.

With the completion of the infrastructure system, the regional connecting highways and a Tran De super port project gradually completing procedures, Soc Trang and the Mekong Delta provinces have more room for overall development.
