On the afternoon of June 24, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) sent a telegram to provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen regarding response to tropical depression (TLD) in the East Sea.
According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon, the low pressure area in the North East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression, about 500km east-southeast of Hoang Sa archipelago, with the strongest wind at level 6, gusting to level 8. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of 15-20km/h, with wind at level 6, gusting to level 8.

To proactively respond to natural disasters, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment requested ministries, branches, and Chairmen of People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen to closely monitor the developments of natural disasters; strictly manage means of transport going out to sea; organize counting and notify owners of means of transport, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of natural disasters to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recommends that localities prepare forces and means for rescue when requested.
Meanwhile, floods and lightning strikes in the North in recent days have left 7 people dead and injured, nearly 2,000 hectares of rice and crops flooded; local authorities are urgently responding, supporting people to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), the floods also damaged 815 houses; 195 houses were flooded. Many traffic routes in Lai Chau province were seriously eroded (Km6+950/DT.131 in Then Sin commune and Km76+690/QL.4D in Chu Va 12 village, Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district).
Heavy rain and thunderstorms caused flooding and landslides in several locations on the traffic routes in the communes of Cam An, Dai Dong, Phuc Ninh, Xuan Lai, Tan Nguyen, Phuc An (Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province) with tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and rock, making it difficult for people to travel. The estimated damage was about 1 billion VND. Some inter-commune roads in Huu Lung district, Lang Son province were flooded from 0.6-1m deep, causing isolation in 3 villages with 469 households.
To ensure the safety of people in isolated and deeply flooded areas in Bac Son and Huu Lung districts, the provincial government and functional forces have supported the movement of furniture and evacuated people in low-lying areas to safety, and provided necessities to people in flooded areas...
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the coming days, thunderstorms, localized rain, and heavy rain in some places will continue to occur in the North, Central Highlands and South, with the risk of flash floods and landslides in many areas...
