Lingard, who played for Manchester United and currently plays for Seoul FC, has been embroiled in a dispute with a Korean agent, Jung Hyun-jung, who allegedly owed him $250,000. The agent arranged his transfer to FC Seoul in August 2024.
The agent was supposed to receive a commission of $250,000. However, Lingard refused to pay the fee. Lingard said that Jung Hyun-jung had not fulfilled his promise during the transfer process.
The deal was almost cancelled at that point. However, Lingard eventually resumed negotiations and succeeded. Lingard argued that Jung Hyun-jung had no part in the deal and refused to pay the commission.

The dispute then went to court. The court ruled that Lingard had to respect the agreement between the two parties. However, Lingard did not want to comply with the order. He refused to pay and cut off all contact with Hyun-jung.
As a result, the court recently ordered the freezing of his monthly salary account. Each month, this player pockets 80,000 USD from FC Seoul, the highest income in the Korean National Championship.
According to Korean media, Lingard was so angry about what happened that he decided not to go to training. FC Seoul then intervened and assured him that his June salary would be paid in another form.
The situation is expected to add to the unrest that has been plaguing the capital club. FC Seoul had previously sold captain Ki Sung-yueng, a move that angered fans.
