Listening and sympathizing with the hardships of patients, over the past 17 years, Master, Doctor Cao Thi Dung, Head of the Department of Reproductive Support, Thanh Hoa Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has continuously improved medical ethics, bringing joy and happiness to many infertile families, helping them have the opportunity to become parents.

Born into a family with both parents working in the medical profession, from a young age, the image of a doctor in a white blouse dedicated to saving people always left an unforgettable impression on the heart of Cao Thi Dung. Therefore, from the time she was still in school, she always tried hard to study well to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. In 2007, after graduating from Hanoi Medical University, Dr. Cao Thi Dung worked at the Department of Reproductive Support, Thanh Hoa Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Always enthusiastic and passionate about her profession, Dr. Cao Thi Dung constantly studied to improve her professional qualifications in examination and treatment, and was trusted by patients and highly appreciated by colleagues. With her own efforts and attempts, in 2020, Dr. Cao Thi Dung was trusted by her superiors to be appointed as Head of the Department of Reproductive Support.

To meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of patients, Dr. Dung always promotes the role of setting an example; coordinates with the team of doctors and medical staff in the department to actively implement new techniques, regularly updates knowledge according to specialized programs on infertility - sterility and related diseases; skillfully applies new techniques such as: Testicular surgery to collect sperm for in vitro fertilization (PESA, TESE), embryo freezing by vitrification method, assisted embryo hatching by laser... From there, helping many infertile families have more confidence and hope in their journey of "finding children".

“When starting a family, every couple wants to have smart, agile children, but for infertile families, this journey is extremely difficult and arduous. Therefore, along with improving my professional qualifications, I also regularly listen to stories to better understand the pressures and difficulties of patients. From there, I am determined to work with my colleagues to have a suitable treatment regimen, helping them have the opportunity to become parents,” said Dr. Cao Thi Dung.

During 17 years of specializing in reproductive support, Dr. Cao Thi Dung has made the dream of having children of hundreds of infertile families come true. The most recent case is that of patient D.TBN, in Hac Thanh ward, due to old age and failure in many previous treatments, so when coming to the Department of Reproductive Support, Thanh Hoa Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital for treatment, Ms. N. could not hide her fatigue when sharing with Dr. Dung about her journey of more than 10 years "finding a child". With 6 egg retrievals, 9 embryo transfers, 3 sperm injections into the uterus, each time Ms. N. and her husband lived through many emotions from anxiety, anticipation, hope and then disappointment. However, with direct advice from Dr. Dung and support from doctors and nurses in the department, Ms. N. and her husband agreed to use in vitro fertilization (IVF). In 2025, joy came to the family when Ms. N. gave birth to a chubby, healthy baby boy and a baby girl.

Not only improving her expertise to apply scientific advances to her work, Dr. Cao Thi Dung has also successfully researched many scientific methods, which have been successfully applied in medical examination and treatment, such as evaluating the results of frozen embryo transfer on day 3 in patients over 40 years old; evaluating the effectiveness of topical Estrogen in preparing the endometrium in patients with frozen embryo transfer; evaluating the situation of multiple pregnancies after blastocyst transfer. In particular, the topic: "Research on the application of embryo transfer technique on day 5 in in vitro fertilization at Thanh Hoa Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2019-2020" was recognized by the Provincial Council of Scientific Initiatives as an effective topic and widely applied in medical examination and treatment at the hospital. This project not only helped more than 1,000 couples achieve their role as parents, but also contributed to reducing treatment costs and saving more for patients. The benefits brought by the project have benefited the hospital with an amount of more than 3 billion VND.

Imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching: "A good doctor must be like a mother", Master, Doctor Cao Thi Dung is always dedicated, enthusiastic, and wholeheartedly responsible for her patients. With her achievements in professional work, Doctor Cao Thi Dung has achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level, Emulation Fighter at the provincial level and has been awarded certificates of merit and certificates of merit from all levels and sectors for many consecutive years; deserving to be a shining example of medical ethics in the work of caring for and protecting people's health.
