Mr. Kha shared: After receiving the compensation, I discussed with my family, borrowed more capital from relatives and the bank to invest in modern machinery, buy trucks, produce and deliver goods myself. Although at first I was a bit confused about the production and management process, Mr. Kha's facility has now operated stably. In the first month of operation, Mr. Kha's facility achieved a revenue of about 100 million VND. This figure not only brought in significant income but also partly dispelled the worry about losing the traditional "fishing rod". This is a testament to the reasonable and visionary use of compensation money, helping farmers successfully change their livelihoods.
Not everyone has the youth and quick thinking to "start a business" like Mr. Kha. For elderly household owners, the loss of agricultural land becomes an even greater burden.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh in La Xa village, Cam Ninh commune, is such a case. Her family has more than 7 sao of rice fields located in the Chinh Nghia industrial cluster project area. After her family's rice fields were cleared, she received about 900 million VND in compensation.
Mrs. Khanh shared: The compensation money is a large amount, but if you don't know how to use it, it will quickly run out. We are old, we cannot work for hire or do heavy work. Therefore, we have to be very careful in spending, prioritizing essential expenses and calculating for long-term life. With the compensation money, Mrs. Khanh opened a grocery store, earning more than 10 million VND/month. The life of Mrs. Khanh and her husband is not only guaranteed but also has enough to support their children and grandchildren.
In recent times, the province has implemented many investment and construction projects, from key transport systems to industrial parks and clusters, urban area projects, etc. Thousands of households have fields and land subject to land acquisition for site clearance. Most of these households are purely agricultural workers, and are no longer of an age suitable for applying for jobs at enterprises. This further highlights the importance of using compensation and support money effectively and strategically. Receiving compensation for site clearance is a great opportunity for many households to improve their lives.
However, in reality, there have been many cases where this money was used to build big houses and buy furniture, ignoring long-term economic development investment. Although having a spacious house or convenient means of transportation is a dream, if this large amount of money is only used for consumption without being reinvested in production, business or learning to improve skills, the risk of households falling into difficult situations after a while is very high.
Compensation money is only a one-time source of income. If not managed and used effectively, it will quickly run out. Instead of focusing on purchasing assets that will lose value over time, people should carefully consider using compensation money to invest in production, business, improve their capacity and professional skills to bring profits, creating a stable source of income for the future. That could be vocational training, small business, or saving to make a profit.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Ninh Commune (An Thi) said: The locality, through associations and organizations, has promoted the rational use of this money among the people, not allowing this valuable money to only serve temporary consumption needs, but turning it into a lever for sustainable family economic development. In addition, the locality also has programs to support vocational training, loans, etc. to help people whose land has been recovered to ensure their livelihoods.
