The two sides oppose the West’s confrontational policy towards Russia and China, attempts to contain the development of the two countries through sanctions and other illegal measures.

The two sides positively assessed the constructive dialogue and high level of interaction between Moscow and Beijing within the framework of the United Nations, BRICS, SCO, G20 and other international structures . A number of topical regional issues were discussed, including the Ukrainian crisis.

According to the ministry, the two countries' foreign ministers agreed on Moscow and Beijing's approaches to global issues and agreed to maintain such close foreign policy coordination.

On the same day, commenting on the results of the Peace Conference on Ukraine, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the event helped "strengthen international consensus".

The country's Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui “has had extensive contact and exchanges with all parties on the political solution to the Ukraine crisis... listening to the opinions and proposals of all parties, and further strengthening international consensus.”

More than 40 countries, including China, India, the United States and European countries, but not Russia, attended the Ukraine peace conference on August 5-6 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). However, the event ended without any joint statement.
