Nghe An attracts investment far beyond plan, FDI officially surpasses 1.6 billion USD, ranking 8th in the country

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation attended and directed.

Comrades: Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee co-chaired.

Attending the meeting at the central bridge were comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of provincial departments and branches. The conference was connected online to the People's Committees of 21 districts, cities and towns.

Director of Nghe An Department of Planning and Investment Pham Hong Quang said: As of December 22, 2023, the whole province has granted new licenses to 116 projects, an increase of 3.6 times compared to 2022; 185 projects have been adjusted.

The total newly granted and increased capital was VND57,891 billion, far exceeding the whole year plan (VND30,000-35,000 billion). In particular, the total newly granted and increased FDI capital reached over USD1.6 billion.

Providing more information about the situation of attracting foreign investment, Head of the Management Board of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone Le Tien Tri said: This year, the province attracted 1.603 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), an increase of 66.8% compared to 2022, ranking 8th among provinces and cities nationwide; of which the attraction to the Southeast Economic Zone reached 1.595 billion USD.

The leader of Nghe An Southeast Economic Zone added: This year, the province has supported and connected to provide 8,000 workers for FDI enterprises and in 2024, the demand is expected to increase to 15,000 to 20,000 workers.

To achieve the above results, Nghe An has prepared quite thoroughly the foundations and ecosystems to welcome investors, especially implementing the "5 readiness" on: planning; essential infrastructure; investment premises; human resources; supporting procedures for investors, promptly resolving obstacles and difficulties related to investment.

In 2024, Nghe An continues to aim to be in the top 10 localities attracting the highest FDI in the country. Currently, the province is urgently implementing site clearance to develop VSIP Nghe An II Industrial Park with an area of ​​500 hectares (in Tho Loc Industrial Park, Dien Chau) and Hoang Mai II Industrial Park with an area of ​​over 334 hectares (in Hoang Mai town) to be ready to welcome investors.
