(NLDO) - NASA's clip includes a haunting sound clip, showing sound waves spreading from the "monster heart" of the Perseus galaxy cluster.
Science Alert has just posted a terrifying clip provided by NASA, in which a fascinating space object is emitting a monster-like roar.
It is a supermassive black hole - often called a monster black hole - located at the center of the Perseus galaxy cluster, also known as the Perseus star cluster because its galaxies look like stars from Earth.

In 2003, astronomers discovered something truly amazing: Sound waves were traveling through the enormous amount of gas surrounding this black hole, which had previously been famous for its strange "moans."
The human ear can't actually perceive these sound waves the way we hear them when we watch NASA clips, but the US space agency has raised the tone by several dozen octaves so that it becomes the sound we hear.
The frequency of the audio clip released by NASA is also 144-288 trillion times higher than the original pitch.
Real sound waves include the lowest notes in the universe that humans have ever detected, which is of course much lower than the limits of human hearing.

Additionally, NASA also added to the audio track a few notes from individual sounds emitted from the black hole to complete the ghostly "music" that is actually spreading through intergalactic space.
Sound waves propagating through the medium within a galaxy cluster are a mechanism that helps heat that medium itself, as they transfer energy through the plasma.
Because temperature helps regulate star formation, sound waves may play an important role in the long-term evolution of galaxy clusters.
That temperature also allows us to detect sound waves. Because the environment inside the cluster is so hot, it glows brightly in X-rays, which NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has picked up.
