Mr. Nguyen Van Than, former Chairman of the Vinh Thuan District Education Promotion Association, and association officials from the province to the grassroots level have made efforts to care for poor students so that they have the opportunity to continue going to school and pursue their dreams. After retiring, Mr. Than worked at the Vinh Thuan District Education Promotion Association from 2020 until the unit was dissolved. With a high sense of responsibility, he researched documents and learned from effective education promotion models in the locality to adjust and apply them appropriately to actual conditions. According to Mr. Than, in order to effectively support students, it is necessary to closely coordinate with agencies, departments, sectors, mass organizations, especially schools and philanthropists. “The association officials and I regularly keep in touch with schools. When students encounter difficulties, the school informs the Association so that they can provide timely support. Any student who lacks books, learning tools or needs tuition support... will receive timely and appropriate support from us,” said Mr. Than.

Mr. Nguyen Van Than - former Chairman of the Vinh Thuan District Education Promotion Association, awarded scholarships to poor students in Vinh Thuan, Vinh Binh and Vinh Phong communes.

One of the typical examples in the study promotion work in the province is Ms. Doan Thi Kim Do, former President of the Rach Gia City Study Promotion Association. With the motto "Transparency, right target", she carefully surveyed each case before proposing support or mobilizing sponsorship from benefactors. Mr. Duong Van Truong, residing in Rach Gia ward, said: "From the time of survey to the handover of the Study Promotion house to my family was only over a month, but Ms. Do visited every day to update the progress of the house construction. She also brought gifts for my children; mobilized benefactors to donate desks, rice, tables and chairs for my family".

According to Ms. Do, to do well in education promotion work, the important thing is to “have a heart and understand the locality”. She prioritizes supporting students in the suburbs, where there are many poor households. Not only devoted to students, Ms. Do also cares about the association’s staff - those who play a “core” role in education promotion work. On holidays and Tet, she mobilizes gifts for the association’s staff to encourage their spirit, create cohesion and promote the widespread development of the education promotion movement.

Having worked inthe education sector for 20 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, President of the Vinh Thuan Commune Association for the Promotion of Education, has devoted all her love to poor students. In this remote area, the conditions for mobilizing sponsorship are still limited, so Ms. Minh and some association officials have taken a portion of their pension to support the students. “I mobilized everyone to support one day’s salary, one week’s pension to help poor students. Although the amount is not large, it is a sincere sharing, adding motivation for the students to go to school. I hope that local civil servants, public employees, and workers will join in helping poor students,” Ms. Minh shared.

With their kindness and dedication, the officials of the Association for Promotion of Education in the province have contributed to sowing seeds of hope and opening the way to the future for many generations of students. They are the ones who silently keep the flame of learning alive in poor families.
