Carreras is set to join Real. |
According to Marca , Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Alvaro Carreras. "Los Blancos" will pay a transfer fee, and send Real Castilla player Rafael Obrador away in the opposite direction, as part of the contract to recruit Carreras.
The Spanish left-back has long agreed personal terms with Real. Carreras has been linked with a number of big clubs but has turned them down in favour of a move to the Bernabeu.
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that this deal will be completed by Real and Benfica in the next few days. If everything goes well, MU will earn a large sum of money, because they have included a clause to receive 25% of the transfer fee when Benfica sells Carreras to any partner in the future.
Previously, MU also received about 8 million euros, when Nottingham sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for 63.7 million euros.
As for Xabi Alonso, he wants a complete left-back for Real Madrid, in a system of three centre-backs and two full-backs. Trent Alexander-Arnold will take the right-back position, while Carreras will be the option on the left. New signing of 60 million euros, Dean Huijsen, will also be in one of the three centre-back positions for Real.
