In his opening speech, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that this is an annual event demonstrating Vietnam's tireless diplomatic efforts, and is also a special opportunity for international friends to gain a deeper understanding of the rich heritage, vibrant culture, and socio-economic and foreign affairs progress of the S-shaped country.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong are home to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex - a complex with special religious, cultural and historical values. This is not only a symbol of the rich spiritual life of the Vietnamese people, but also the cradle of Truc Lam Zen, the homeland of the Tran Dynasty - a dynasty that played a special role in shaping the history of the nation. These sacred relics, associated with national heroes and important events, have existed for more than 700 years, continue to develop, and are part of Vietnam's cultural heritage.
“We are proud to have submitted a nomination dossier to UNESCO to inscribe this heritage complex on the World Heritage List. This is one of Vietnam’s priorities, as it clearly demonstrates the nation’s identity, beliefs and historical pride. We have been conducting active and constructive dialogues with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the World Heritage Centre, providing additional information to highlight the ‘Outstanding Universal Value of the complex’,” said Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu.
Accordingly, the Deputy Minister hopes to continue to receive strong support from countries so that the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex will soon be listed on the World Heritage List, in addition to the 72 existing UNESCO titles. This is not only a source of pride, but also a responsibility of Vietnam in contributing to the cultural heritage of humanity.
