At the "Traditional Fire" Camp recently organized by Division 363, the hydroponic vegetable growing model of Regiment 213 convinced all members of the jury to give absolute scores, helping Regiment 213 excellently win the first prize of the whole group.

Present at the camp, we saw hydroponic vegetable trellis including amaranth, Malabar spinach, green mustard, lettuce that were almost ready for harvest, fresh and green. Major Dinh Van Hung, Quartermaster Assistant of Regiment 213, the author of this model, shared: The hydroponic vegetable growing model originated from the actual situation of many units, especially those stationed in cities, on high hills or islands, lacking arable land or barren, rocky soil, making it difficult to increase production, grow green vegetables...

Hydroponic vegetable growing model of Regiment 213, Division 363.

Major Dinh Van Hung has researched through books, newspapers, and the internet to implement a hydroponic vegetable growing model at the unit. The model includes a water pump system (12W capacity), plastic baskets, and a 2-storey vegetable growing rack. Accordingly, vegetables are grown seasonally in plastic baskets, completely isolated from the soil; no fertilizers or toxic chemicals are used, but they are grown with liquid nutrients running through a hydroponic system to feed the plants, so the entire nutrient supply process can be controlled, ensuring safety and quality. The highlight of the hydroponic vegetable growing model is that all the water after being pumped up to irrigate the plants will be circulated back to the small capacity tank below to continue to be used for irrigation in the following times. Although it has just been implemented, this model has been effective, the vegetables grow and develop well, are easy to grow, do not require much care, are very clean, and do not affect the environment...

Highly appreciating this model, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Canh Dinh, Deputy Head of Logistics and Engineering of Division 363, said that in reality, this method of growing vegetables not only ensures food hygiene and safety, but also saves land area, is easy to manage and prevent diseases... Besides, the model also has outstanding advantages in productivity and is environmentally friendly because it does not use pesticides. In the coming time, the Division will continue to research and propose to expand the model to other units, especially at the Division's offices, units stationed on islands and on high hills...
