
Flight VN56 departed from London Heathrow Airport (UK) on the evening of July 6. After about 9 hours of flight, the Danish passenger sitting in seat 26E showed signs of unstable health. The flight crew provided first aid, but the passenger's health did not improve.
The flight captain decided to divert to an emergency landing at Kolkata airport (India) and notified the ground department for medical assistance. The passenger was taken to a local medical facility for monitoring along with two accompanying relatives.
After completing the procedures, flight VN56 continued its journey to Hanoi at 3:43 p.m. (local time) on July 7, about 3 hours behind schedule.
Recently, many Vietnam Airlines flights have had to divert to land to rescue passengers. On June 30, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang had to land in Da Nang.
On June 16, flight VN158 from Da Nang to Hanoi landed at Phu Bai Airport (Hue) to rescue passengers. On May 5, 2025, flight VN35 from Hanoi to Frankfurt (Germany) landed at Erzurum Airport (Türkiye).
The airline recommends that passengers who experience any unusual health symptoms should consult a doctor and consider taking the flight.
