However, according to Bloomberg and CNBC , negotiations between Meta and Runway failed to progress and have fallen apart. Representatives of Runway AI and Meta Platforms both declined to comment on the information.
Runway AI is a famous artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in New York City, USA, founded in 2018, providing tools to help users edit and create videos and images quickly and realistically. Earlier this year, the company was valued at more than 3 billion USD.
Since 2023, Runway AI has become one of the leading companies in the field of AI video, contributing to the craze surrounding these types of tools.
Runway AI's latest AI model, called Gen-4, helps users create videos with consistent characters and objects, something many other services still struggle with.
Film studio Lionsgate has signed on to use Runway AI's tool, which has also been used on shows like Amazon's House of David and a Madonna concert.

Bloomberg revealed that in recent months, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg has prioritized meeting with leading figures in the AI world, from CEOs to chief scientists . The Facebook boss has shown his willingness to invest heavily in many AI companies and their staff.
His goal is to hunt down the best minds in the field of AI to build a "super-intelligence" team with sky-high salaries, sometimes accompanied by acquisition negotiations.
Meta Platforms recently completed a nearly $15 billion investment to acquire a 49% stake in Scale AI, a startup that primarily labels data and evaluates AI for companies. Meta Platforms also hired Scale AI co-founder and CEO Alexandr Wang, 28, to lead its “super intelligence” team.
Before acquiring 49% of Scale AI and hiring Alexander Wang, the Facebook boss was in talks with search startup Perplexity AI, which is currently valued at $14 billion.
Last week, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed on the podcast “Uncapped” (hosted by his brother Jack Altman) that Meta Platforms tried to lure some of his employees with signing bonuses of up to $100 million.
However, Sam Altman stated that "none of our top talent agreed to leave".
Meta Platforms also negotiated with former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman about joining the company and had similar discussions with Safe Superintelligence CEO Daniel Gross.
Sources say both Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross have agreed to join Meta Platforms’ superintelligence team. A Meta Platforms representative said that “the company will share more information about its superintelligence efforts and new talent in the coming weeks.”
