On the evening of September 28, Deputy Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 Van Thi Huu Tam said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), all passengers traveling on metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will be exempted from ticket fees on September 2.

Accordingly, passengers can choose to scan their chip-embedded Citizen Identification Card or use the “Independent” QR code on the HCMC Metro HURC app to pass through the control gate. The free program only applies on September 2 and there are no refunds for passengers who still buy tickets as usual.
In addition, the Company also updated and diversified the forms of metro ticket purchase. Currently, passengers can choose one of 8 ways such as: buying tickets at automatic ticket machines, paying by Mastercard, Visa, Napas; using a bank-linked phone to scan at the gate; buying tickets at the counter, kiosk, e-wallet or on the HCMC Metro HURC application. In particular, from August 29, 2025, a system of 44 automatic paper ticket kiosks will be put into operation at all stations.
Notably, also from August 29, the MoMo application will integrate the Metro miniapp, allowing passengers to buy single-trip tickets, daily tickets, monthly tickets and link monthly tickets with their citizen ID cards to take the train, with quick and easy operations right on their phones.
To promote cashless payments, from September 15, Metro Line 1 will pilot the cessation of selling QR paper tickets at 4 stations: City Theater, Ba Son, Van Thanh and Phuoc Long.
