With large-scale training programs, drastic participation from localities and advanced tools such as Khanmigo, Vietnam is gradually realizing the goal of digital transformation of education in a practical, effective direction, ensuring pedagogy and humanity.
Vietnam has just made a strong mark on the global AI map when it ranked 6th out of 40 countries in the World AI Index 2025. This ranking, announced by the World Independent Market Research Network (WIN) last week, marks the first time Vietnam has entered the Top 10 countries with the highest awareness and readiness in AI application.
Vietnam has just made a strong mark on the global AI map when it ranked 6th out of 40 countries in the World AI Index 2025. |
The survey was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025 in 40 countries, with sociological data collected from 900 people in four major cities in Vietnam. The results showed that Vietnam scored 59.2/100 points, surpassing many developed countries. In particular, Vietnam ranked 3rd globally in terms of trust in AI (65.6 points) and 5th in terms of AI acceptance (71.6 points). Other indicators such as comfort in using AI or assessment of application effectiveness also exceeded the global average.
These impressive results show that people's awareness and positive attitudes towards AI are creating an important premise for Vietnam to make a breakthrough in the field of AI application, especially in education.
AI applications help teachers and students learn to teach and learn effectively. |
In recent years, Vietnam has been promoting the implementation of the National Strategy on AI Research and Development to 2030 (Decision 127/QD-TTg). The education sector is considered one of the focal points for putting AI into practice, through training programs, coaching and developing tools to support smart teaching and learning.
The Ministry of Education and Training is also urgently implementing activities to build a digital competency framework, organize many AI courses for teachers, etc. to create a strong foundation for educational innovation. The Departments of Education and Training in Hanoi, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang and many other localities organize AI training for teachers, ready to grasp new technology. Typically, 4,000 teachers in Quang Tri have completed the "AI in education" course on the Khan Academy platform - a number that demonstrates the spirit of readiness to learn and innovate of the teaching staff.
Not only Khan Academy Vietnam, many international organizations such as Google, Microsoft... are also contributing to promoting the provision of AI knowledge to Vietnamese teachers. Workshops and discussions on AI organized by the Ministry of Education and Training recently attracted the attention of many experts, managers and teachers nationwide.
In that trend, Khanmigo - a specialized artificial intelligence tool for education developed by Khan Academy, is expected to become an intelligent teaching assistant, accompanying teachers and high school students in Vietnam.
The Vietnam Foundation (VNF) – the official and sole representative of Khan Academy in Vietnam is actively working with Khan Academy USA to bring the Vietnamese version of Khanmigo for teachers to Vietnam in November 2025. This is a strategic step to bring educational AI closer to teachers and high school students in a practical, safe and effective way.

Khanmigo has now been deployed in more than 70 countries such as Brazil, Philippines... and gradually proven its practical value in many US states such as New Jersey, Texas, Louisiana... This is no longer a futuristic idea but has become a practical solution, trusted by the education system in many countries.
For students, Khanmigo is a “tutor” that promotes personalized thinking and learning. Khanmigo uses the Socratic method, which does not provide immediate answers but guides students step by step to find the solution themselves, helping to develop critical thinking and self-learning skills. Khanmigo does not use student data to train the AI, thus minimizing bias in the answers. To increase the accuracy of the answers, Khanmigo is constantly updated. Khan Academy's team of AI experts also regularly conducts simulated attacks (red-teaming) to continuously improve the level of safety for users. In addition, conversations between students and Khanmigo can be monitored by teachers or parents to ensure ethical and responsible standards in the use of technology, with chat histories being accessed clearly and transparently.
Khanmigo is being Vietnamized to be ready to be brought to Vietnam. |
Not only is it an effective self-study support tool for students, Khanmigo is also a comprehensive "teaching assistant" for teachers. Integrated directly on the Khan Academy platform, Khanmigo provides 25 specialized tools to support teaching activities throughout, from lesson planning, creating learning materials, testing and assessment, to personalizing learning content for each student. Some outstanding features for teachers include: Preparing lesson plans, building learning objectives and discussion questions for each class level; Creating multiple choice tests, assessment criteria tables, class newsletters, poems summarizing lesson content, etc. to save time preparing lessons; Personalizing learning content based on student abilities: adjusting text difficulty, suggesting appropriate exercises, supporting goal setting for each student; Automatically analyzes knowledge gaps, provides detailed learning reports, helps teachers quickly adjust teaching methods... Khanmigo has a friendly interface, does not require high technology skills, helps all teachers to easily access and use. At the same time, all exchanged information can be shared, printed or downloaded, helping to flexibly organize teaching.
Bringing Khanmigo to Vietnam is a strategic move by The Vietnam Foundation, with the goal of supporting teachers to master technology and guiding students to use AI properly and safely. This is an effort to contribute to building a modern, effective and humane learning ecosystem.
AI in general and Khanmigo in particular do not replace teachers, but become tools to help teachers play a leading role in the digital age classroom. When teachers are exposed and applied first, students benefit more. That is also the core principle of digital transformation in education - not just stopping at devices or software, but creating a real learning journey for each learner.
