Mitsubishi Philippines (MMPC) has just posted a short teaser of the Destinator crossover SUV, with a message introducing this as a car that "takes your family on special journeys and memorable experiences". This "teaser" move makes observers believe that the Destinator model will likely be distributed in the Philippine market in the near future.
Mitsubishi officially launched the Destinator in Indonesia in July 2025. This is a 7-seat SUV equipped with a turbocharged engine, manufactured at the Krama Yudha factory in West Java - where the Xpander, Xpander Cross and XForce models are currently assembled. With the Mitsubishi Xpander and XForce already present in the Philippines as imports from Indonesia, the possibility of the Destinator following in the footsteps of these two models is entirely possible.
This model is not too unfamiliar to the Philippine market when it appeared in concept form called DST Concept at the 2024 Philippine International Auto Show (PIMS). Therefore, MMPC's early introduction of the commercial version of the all-new 7-seat Mitsubishi Destinator is considered a reasonable step, similar to the Vietnamese market's plan to launch the Destinator at the end of this year. Another question is whether the Destinator will be assembled at MMPC’s Sta. Rosa plant in the near future. The company has not yet revealed any plans to produce new models.
It is known that after Mitsubishi Motors President and CEO Takao Kato committed to invest 7 billion pesos in the Philippines within 5 years. If not Destinator, Xpander will likely be a locally assembled model, alongside Mirage G4 and L300. Video : What's new in the 7-seat Mitsubishi Destinator SUV coming to Vietnam?
