As for Ms. Nguyen Kim Phuong's mother, To Hieu ward, who suffered from acute pancreatitis, she was treated at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department of the Provincial General Hospital for nearly a week, with many expensive drugs, each treatment costing more than 30 million VND. Thanks to the health insurance card, the family only had to pay 20% of the treatment costs. Ms. Phuong said: Since my mother was hospitalized and enjoyed many health insurance benefits, every year, the family deducts a portion of their income to buy health insurance for all members, so that they can rest assured when they get sick or in pain.

Master, Doctor Me Thi Xuan, Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Provincial General Hospital, shared: For patients treated at the department, all have serious illnesses, long-term treatment and use modern techniques, the cost is high, the cost of hospital beds alone is more than 500 thousand VND/day, and the cost of ICU beds per day of treatment is more than 1.8 million VND; if dialysis is required, the cost is from 17 to 30 million VND... That is a very large cost compared to the economic level of the people. Therefore, if there is no health insurance to support payment, it is a very heavy burden for families.

To date, the number of people participating in health insurance in the whole province is 1,240,005 people, the coverage rate is 93.2% of the population, meaning that many people are enjoying the preferential regime and policies of the State whenever they are sick and have to be hospitalized. Since the beginning of the year, Social Insurance Region II has appraised the cost of health insurance examination and treatment for more than 471,300 patients, with nearly 469 billion VND.

To ensure the rights of health insurance participants to enjoy the best health care services, the Social Insurance Department of Region II has coordinated with the Health Department to direct medical examination and treatment facilities to improve quality and promote administrative reform. Coordinate with the Health Department to improve the quality of health insurance examination and treatment; the health insurance cardholders' rights to medical examination and treatment are increasingly expanded, a series of high-tech services with large costs are paid by the Health Insurance Fund. In addition, the unit promotes communication to develop health insurance participants, focusing on disseminating new contents of the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Health Insurance Law in 2024, effective from July 1.

Continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct and mobilize the participation of the entire political system from the province to the district and commune levels in propaganda and advocacy work to implement the health insurance policy. Promote socialization, mobilize and mobilize support from philanthropists and businesses to donate social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances; call on each civil servant and public employee to donate a health insurance card to people in difficult circumstances.
