Man City have won Group G of the FIFA Club World Cup after a resounding 5-2 victory over Juventus in the third round of the group stage in Orlando, USA. This is the first time since 1976 that the Manchester team has defeated the "Old Lady".
Man City and Juventus have both qualified with a game to spare, meaning the final group stage match between the two sides will be all about deciding who finishes top. Despite concerns over Pep Guardiola's continued rotation, Man City have played a cohesive and effective game.

In the 10th minute, their constant pressure was rewarded when new signing Rayan Ait-Nouri made a precise pass for Jeremy Doku to dribble inside and finish dangerously into the far corner, opening the score. However, The Citizens' joy did not last long. Just a few minutes later, from a careless pass from goalkeeper Ederson, Teun Koopmeiners quickly stole the ball, bravely broke through and fired a long-range shot past the Brazilian goalkeeper, leveling the score.
If Juve's equaliser was a gift, City's lead was a farcical one. It looked like nothing was going to happen when Matheus Nunes fired the ball across goal, but Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu accidentally tipped the ball into his own net in an attempt to put City 2-1 up midway through the first half.
As the rain began to pour down on Orlando before the break, Man City continued to attack, forcing goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to continuously show his talent to keep out shots from Omar Marmoush and Ait-Nouri.
Di Gregorio, however, was unable to do anything as City increased their lead after the break. Nunes continued to show his dynamism when he broke through from the right wing before setting up substitute Erling Haaland to easily tap the ball into an empty net, making it 3-1 in the 52nd minute.
Juventus still had a chance to reduce the deficit when Dusan Vlahovic faced Ederson but could not win. The Serbian striker's frustration increased just seconds later, when Savinho played a long pass over the line for Phil Foden to finish, making it 4-1 for Man City.

Not stopping there, Savinho himself scored the best goal of the match with a powerful shot from 20 meters away, hitting the crossbar and into the net, raising the score to 5-1 in the 76th minute. Vlahovic then scored a goal to reduce the score to 2-5 for Juventus in the last 10 minutes, but that was not enough to help them gain points and compete for the top spot.
With this result, Juventus will have to face the group H winner (most likely Real Madrid) in the round of 16, while Man City will face the second-placed team and have the advantage of staying in Orlando for the next round.
