The teachers' housing in Phuc Trach is expected to be completed in October 2025.

For a long time, the story of teachers who come from far away to teach in Huong Trach and have to stay temporarily in houses with corrugated iron roofs and thin walls has become a concern not only for teachers but also for the entire pedagogical community of schools and local authorities.

Mr. Duong Ba Phuong - Principal of Huong Trach Primary School said: "Huong Trach is one of the areas with many difficulties, the roads are difficult, the people's lives are still lacking. For many years, the industry has also created conditions for the school by rotating teachers reasonably to ensure the teaching staff. However, currently the whole school still has 17 teachers living far away, of which 8 teachers need to stay, mainly from Quang Tri , the farthest person living from the school is more than 70 km".

As a young teacher from Minh Hoa commune (Quang Tri province), Ms. Tran Thi Hong Na (born in 1993) has been working in education for 4 years in the old Huong Khe district. To ensure her teaching work while the distance from home to school is nearly 70 km, for the past few years, she has had to rent a house to live in.

Building public housing and creating a place to live has been a motivation to fuel the love for the profession for young teachers in Huong Trach in the new school year.

Ms. Hong Na said: “In the first 2 years of my career, I was assigned to teach at Huong Binh Primary School (Huong Binh Commune) - nearly 100 km from home. In the 2024-2025 school year, I was transferred to teach at Huong Trach Primary School, an area bordering Quang Tri Province, so the distance home is shorter. However, to ensure work, my colleagues and I rented a house for lodging. Lacking housing conditions, life was too difficult, so the information about building a public house made us very happy and looking forward to it. I registered a room so that I could bring my young child to live with me, making it convenient for taking care of him.”

Sharing the joy of the news that the official residence will be handed over and put into use in the 2025-2026 school year, teacher Dinh Thi Thu Quynh - Huong Trach Primary School, from Tan Thanh Commune (Quang Tri Province) emotionally shared: “The dream of an official residence is gradually becoming a reality, helping me solve my worries about a place to live. Because in the near future, after maternity leave, I have to bring my young child and family members to live with me to both conveniently take care of the child and be able to perform my professional duties well. Only with a stable place to live can we teachers feel secure in teaching.”

Witnessing the hardships in the lives of teachers far from home, sticking to the education career in difficult areas, in recent times, schools, education sectors and localities have persistently consulted and called for resources. At the end of 2024, with the support and sharing of Vietinbank Ha Tinh, the construction of a new level 4 house with 8 rooms, an area of 340m2 and the renovation and upgrading of an old level 4 house with 8 rooms, with a total cost of about 3.3 billion VND, was approved and implemented.

Mr. Phan Quoc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Trach commune informed: "The survey shows that Huong Trach kindergarten, primary school and secondary school have a total of 103 staff, teachers and employees. Of these, the boarding demand is 8 people and the semi-boarding demand is 24 people, mainly primary and secondary school teachers. Therefore, calling for investment to build public housing for teachers is extremely necessary and urgent. Because this is not only a project to help teachers settle down, but also a deeply humane policy, demonstrating the responsibility of the government to those who are staying at school and class day and night in difficult areas".

The new school year is approaching, the gradually completed public housing has brought joy and hope for a peaceful life for teachers working far from home. A warm home in the middle of the forest not only helps teachers feel secure in their schools and classes, but also motivates them to continue accompanying and supporting students in difficult areas.
