Fixed telephone area codes of provinces and cities after merger

(QNgTV)- The Ministry of Science and Technology has just issued instructions on using fixed telephone area codes of provinces and cities after the merger.

created, from July 1, the whole country will have only 34 provinces/cities instead of 63 provinces/cities as before. According to the Ministry of Science and Technology , the landline area codes of the new provinces/cities that are arranged from two or more old provincial-level administrative units are expected to use the area codes currently associated with the names of the new provinces/cities.

For example, the two provinces Tuyen Quang (area code 207) and Ha Giang (area code 219) are arranged into Tuyen Quang province, the new area code will be 207.

For now, with the 23 newly arranged provinces/cities, the old province/cities' landline area codes will be used in parallel until further notice from the Ministry of Science and Technology.

11 provinces/cities with no changes will keep their landline area codes unchanged, including Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Hue, Ha Tinh, Lang Son, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Son La.
