According to Bangkok Post, on September 1, Director of Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chaiwat Chuntirapong said that flooding continued in four provinces of Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai in the North and Nong Khai in the Northeast of the country, affecting 3,979 households.

Since August 16, floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Thailand have affected 23 provinces, killing 22 people and injuring 19.

In another development, Thai authorities have launched an investigation into the Muak Lek-Lam Takhong railway tunnel collapse in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, which killed three foreign workers. The investigation will also review the findings of the State Railway of Thailand to determine whether the project complied with design, regulations and safety standards.

The tunnel collapse occurred on the night of August 24 after a prolonged heavy rain, although it was not raining at the time of the incident.
