Dominique de Miscault is a French artist, photographer and writer who has been deeply attached to Vietnam since 1992 and believes that Vietnam has truly taken off.
Ms. Dominique de Miscault shared: Vietnam, to me, is not only about war but also about calmness, inner strength, and a quiet love for what they have chosen to believe in. As a French person, I came to Hanoi for the first time as a foreigner. But standing in front of Ba Dinh Square, opposite President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, I no longer feel like a "guest".

"Standing before the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, I felt something that transcended politics or current events: the deep respect of an entire nation for a person they had absolute trust in. I could not help but bow before that reverence - not because of his solemn appearance, but because of his quiet, enduring, unpretentious spiritual strength." Mrs. Dominique de Miscault |
I came to Vietnam at a difficult time in my life. Meeting people who had also experienced great pain and loss due to the war, I felt a deep empathy. This human connection made me consider Vietnam my "second home", and this feeling remains intact to this day.
Since my first trip to Vietnam in late April 1992, I have witnessed profound changes in this country. One of my most vivid memories is of my first days in Hanoi in a small, simple but warm guesthouse. From that moment on, I felt a special closeness and sincerity that makes Vietnam unique - new and familiar to me.
I still remember the time I visited a friend in Hanoi and saw a picture of Uncle Ho - a symbol in every Vietnamese home around 1992 - a time when almost every family had a picture of Uncle Ho hanging in their house. His simple image, next to his desk, was often kept as a sacred symbol - showing the respect, pride and deep affection that the Vietnamese people had for their beloved leader. The bust placed next to the picture was not only a reminder of him, but also a way for each family to connect with the history and ideals of the nation.

After the US trade embargo was lifted in February 1994, Vietnam began to gradually open up and integrate with the world. I consider this period to be the "Vietnamese Spring". In recent years, Vietnam has really taken off, fueled by new energy and a strong desire to rise.
I admire the ability of Vietnamese leaders and diplomats to combine international integration with the preservation of national identity. This combination contributes to strengthening Vietnam's position in the international arena and establishing long-term cooperative relationships.
For me, President Ho Chi Minh is an extraordinary personality with extraordinary will and courage. Above all, he was a great patriot who devoted his whole life to the independence and freedom of the nation. I believe that his sacrifices are a shining example for future generations. I deeply understand and appreciate the indomitable spirit, strong will and great sacrifices of the Vietnamese people to regain independence and freedom.

According to historian Alain Ruscio, September 2, 1945 is considered a brilliant milestone in the thousand-year journey of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people and is known to the whole world because this nation opened the way for the struggle for decolonization.
After thirty years of wandering around the world to find a way to save the country, Nguyen Ai Quoc found a way to fight to regain independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people. On September 2, 1945, in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh read the “Declaration of Independence” which had great historical significance for the country of Vietnam. This was a great event because the Declaration of Independence opened a new era. For the first time, the Vietnamese people had the right to be proud to become citizens of a free and independent country.
During that period, the two words “independence” which seemed very distant to each colonial country, were officially and eloquently and extraordinarily declared. From that historical milestone, the young Democratic Republic of Vietnam opened a strong movement worldwide: peoples continuously rose up to fight for independence and freedom following the path of President Ho Chi Minh.

Vietnam's history spans thousands of years of building and defending the country. In any era, when the country is in danger, talented people appear. The struggle to regain independence, marked by the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, and then the reunification of Vietnam on April 30, 1975, is closely associated with the life and career of the great leader of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh.
The persistent determination and strong will of President Ho Chi Minh and his comrades were all the more significant when they achieved initial revolutionary achievements from the self-reliance of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, until now, his name is still honored by the people of the world.
Although President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly expressed his desire to negotiate for peace, the warmongers in the French colonial government, and later the American imperialists, continued to pursue the path of war. The French in 1945-1946 were still largely attached to the colonial system. Moreover, President Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh cadres were all communist soldiers. The Cold War at that time was a source of fear for French officials. In Paris, the warmongers won the war in Indochina. This event once again forced the Vietnamese people to continue their struggle to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and to unify the country for the next 30 years.

Mr. Eric Lafon, Director of the Living History Museum, is a person who has been attached to the Living History Museum in the city of Montreuil, where the Ho Chi Minh Space stores documents, images and artifacts about the life and revolutionary career of the great leader of the Vietnamese people. Due to the nature of his work, he knows a lot about the history and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.
He expressed: I understand that many years have passed, but the immortal spirit of National Day September 2 is still deeply engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. The long struggle of the Vietnamese people has shown that the spirit of September 2 is an unstoppable source of encouragement for generations of Vietnamese people to defend independence and freedom.
The Living History Museum is a place to honor great men who left deep historical marks, had great impact and influence on the world, including President Ho Chi Minh. With a sharp political vision and boundless patriotism, he was determined to go out to find a way to save the country and save the people. After a journey full of hardships and dangers, he approached the light of Marxism-Leninism, finding the right path to save the Vietnamese people.

It can be said that the August Revolution of 1945 was one of the greatest and most glorious victories in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people. This achievement was achieved from the spirit of “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. That victory was engraved in the history of the Vietnamese nation and a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and intelligence of the Vietnamese people, and was recognized as a great feat of the 20th century.
Not only Vietnamese people but also many French and international friends admire President Ho Chi Minh, who devoted his whole life to fighting for the independence and freedom of Vietnam as well as for the precious values of humanity. He has become a symbol honored by all those who love justice and freedom for overcoming countless dangers to find the path to fight for national liberation.
Vietnam is proud to have President Ho Chi Minh, who led the people on the revolutionary path to build a heroic and indomitable nation. He is a symbol of courage and freedom, whose name is remembered not only in Vietnam, France and many other countries in the world.

I, like many others, remember very clearly the eloquent declaration of President Ho Chi Minh on September 2, 1945: Vietnam has the right to enjoy freedom and independence and in fact has become a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, their lives and property to maintain that freedom and independence.
We, peace-loving people who love Vietnam, are very proud of Vietnam, a heroic and resilient nation, not only in the long struggle to regain independence and national unification but also in the journey of reconstruction, innovation and strong growth over the past decades.
