With the spirit of “eating, living and working together” with the people, in recent times, Brigade 957, Naval Region 4 has organized many practical mass mobilization activities in the villages of Thinh Son, Song Can Dong, Song Can Tay (Nam Cam Ranh commune). Thereby, contributing to the good implementation of Directive No. 49 of the Secretariat on “Strengthening and innovating the Party’s mass mobilization work in ethnic minority areas”, consolidating the solidarity between the army and the people, and building safe military bases.
Join hands for the poor
Together with the working delegation of Brigade 957, we visited the house of Mr. Mang Sai (Song Can Tay village, Nam Cam Ranh commune), a poor household, on a day at the end of June. The simple but sturdy level 4 house, with solid walls and a corrugated iron roof, is the family's long-standing dream. The new house has an area of 56m2 , worth 95 million VND, and was completed not long ago thanks to the support of Brigade 957 and Cam Thinh Tay commune (old); of which Brigade 957 supported 75 million VND and 500 working days, and the commune supported 20 million VND. Mr. Mang Sai shared: “Previously, my family had to live in a makeshift house, every time it rained, it leaked everywhere. Now that we have a new house, my family is very happy. Not only did we support the house building, but on every holiday and Tet, Brigade 957 and the locality also care to give gifts. This is the motivation for my family to improve in life.”

On this occasion, the delegation also visited the family of Ms. Thi Niem (Thinh Son village, Nam Cam Ranh commune), a particularly disadvantaged household that had just been given a charity house. In the house that smelled of new paint, Ms. Niem was cleaning and rearranging the furniture she had just moved in. Her face beaming with happiness, Ms. Niem boasted: "Thanks to the support of benefactors and the joint construction of officers and soldiers of Brigade 957, after 2 months, the house was completed and put into use at the end of May. Finally, I have a decent house to live in, like a dream". The house has an area of 60m2 with a total cost of 125 million VND supported by the National Volunteer Network Center in the Central region and Medistar Vietnam Co., Ltd., Poke USA Medical Equipment and Trading Co., Ltd., Fobic Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.; Brigade 957 chaired the supervision and construction contract.
The charity houses not only bring joy to Mr. Mang Sai and Mrs. Niem's families, but also demonstrate the effectiveness of the mass mobilization work that Brigade 957 has been implementing in the locality.
From 2021 to present, the brigade has supported the construction and repair of 11 charity houses in Nam Cam Ranh commune for ethnic minority, poor and single households with a total cost of over 1.1 billion VND and more than 1,270 working days; including 9 new houses. From now until the end of the year, the brigade will continue to support the construction of 5 new houses for households in difficult circumstances in the area. The funding source for implementation is taken from the brigade's "Love Rice Jar" and "Savings Piggy Bank" models and the cooperation of organizations and businesses... In addition, the unit has also supported the construction of 3 comrade houses for officers and professional soldiers in difficult circumstances with a value of 240 million VND.
Always supporting local
During the time of implementing the twinning program with Thinh Son, Song Can Dong, Song Can Tay villages (Nam Cam Ranh commune), Brigade 957 has done many specific and practical things to help the local people and authorities. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, building a safe military base. Colonel Tien Quang Su - Party Committee Secretary, Political Commissar of Brigade 957 said: “The Party Committee and Brigade Commander always identify mass mobilization work as one of the key political tasks of the unit. Therefore, we regularly educate and thoroughly educate officers and soldiers to have a good understanding of the situation and tasks, to be conscious and responsible, to reach out to the people with all their heart, affection and deep sharing. Every year, the unit closely coordinates with local authorities to effectively implement the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization", to build a "Good mass mobilization" unit; to join hands in building new rural areas and joining hands for the poor, leaving no one behind".
In addition to supporting the construction of charity houses, Brigade 957 has donated 75 civilian iron beds to families in difficult circumstances in the area, worth 150 million VND; donated thousands of gifts including: notebooks, pens, pants, shirts, warm blankets, and powdered milk to poor and studious students; donated gifts and necessities to families with preferential policies, poor and near-poor households on holidays and Tet, with a total value of nearly 280 million VND. In addition, every year, during field trips, the brigade also helps people repair roads; clean the environment; examine and treat illnesses, and provide free medicine to people; organize cultural, artistic and sports exchanges; screen mobile films to serve the people, etc. The unit also organizes propaganda campaigns, disseminates and mobilizes people to strictly implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and ethnic and religious policies; guide people to apply technical advances in livestock breeding, production, and cultivation for high productivity and quality... At the same time, mobilize people to effectively carry out the campaign "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", eliminate backward customs, and contribute to building a strong, stable, and developed locality.
Mr. Mang Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Cam Ranh Commune said: “Over the past years, Brigade 957 has carried out many practical and meaningful mass mobilization activities in the locality. These contributions have significantly contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of the people; at the same time, strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State and the Vietnam People's Army. Thereby, the image of naval soldiers has become increasingly close and friendly, leaving a good impression in the hearts of the people".
