Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism , Arts and Culture of Malaysia; Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Vietnam; Mr. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Promotion Agency of Malaysia.
On the side of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there was Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. On the side of Vietnam Airlines , there was Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines; Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines.

The event aims to enhance tourism connectivity and tourist exchange between the two countries, and marks an important development in the cooperative relationship between the two sides, focusing on promoting Malaysian tourism through Vietnam Airlines' aviation services.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines emphasized that today's event not only affirms the commitment to cooperation between the two pioneers in the fields of aviation and tourism, but is also the beginning of regional initiatives, contributing to deepening diplomatic relations, cultural exchanges, trade and tourism between the two neighboring countries in the ASEAN region.

"We believe that close coordination between aviation agencies and tourism promotion agencies will create a new momentum for tourism in Southeast Asia. With this memorandum, the coordination between Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Agency will become deeper and more effective. In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines commits to closely coordinate with partners to implement the agreed contents, together building quality itineraries to serve the people of the two countries" - Mr. Dang Anh Tuan emphasized.
For his part, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, affirmed that the signing ceremony marked an important step forward in tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam. This cooperation agreement aims to enhance air connectivity, expand tourism opportunities and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, economic cooperation as well as cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Representatives of the two units signed the cooperation agreement.
According to statistics, Vietnam is currently one of Malaysia's leading tourist markets in Southeast Asia. In the first 6 months of the year, there were nearly 170,000 Vietnamese visitors to Malaysia. As of July 2025, there are 164 flights per week connecting major cities in Vietnam with key destinations in Malaysia, with a total capacity of nearly 30,000 seats. These figures clearly reflect the strong tourism demand and untapped potential between the two countries.
In the opposite direction, Vietnam welcomed 266 thousand Malaysian visitors, making Malaysia the second largest ASEAN tourist market of Vietnam.
“These figures demonstrate the mutual interest and respect between the two countries as ideal tourist destinations. Today’s event is a symbol of a strategic, future-oriented partnership between two countries that play a key role in the ASEAN tourism industry, with the common goal of connecting our countries and people through tourism and culture towards sustainable development,” said Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
At the ceremony, representatives of the two units signed a cooperation agreement. The cooperation includes: coordinating the development and implementation of communication campaigns, organizing promotional events, market research programs and promoting tourism between the two countries.
Malaysia pledged to continue promoting tourism activities in Vietnam. In the coming time, the country will carry out activities connecting businesses (B2B) and consumers (B2C) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In parallel, Malaysia is promoting long-term programs such as "Malaysia - Second Home", along with the "Visit Malaysia 2026" campaign, as an open invitation to Vietnamese tourists.
