On the morning of August 1, more than 130 students from 3 second-year classes of public relations at Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) had a practice session on photojournalism at the Ho Chi Minh City Aquatic Sports Center (Yet Kieu swimming pool).
Today's main character is disabled athlete Nguyen Hong Loi, also known as the "legless swimmer" in his role as a swimming coach.
Despite having only one left hand and two incomplete legs, Mr. Loi is still confident in teaching swimming classes and imparting anti-drowning experience to students.
In addition to instructing students on how to survive underwater, legless swimmer Nguyen Hong Loi also enthusiastically imparts skills such as: swimming freestyle as fast as a bamboo stick, swimming breaststroke to enjoy the scenery, leisurely floating on his back, or vigorous movements when swimming butterfly.
Today, swimmer Nguyen Hong Loi became the character for students to practice working on character photography in the course of organizing photos on media products. This is the 4th course in the cooperation program between Tuoi Tre newspaper and Nguyen Tat Thanh University, turning the editorial office into a lecture hall for students. And the "lecture hall" on the morning of August 1st was Yet Kieu swimming pool, and the guest was swimmer Nguyen Hong Loi.
Not only was it a practical lesson on photojournalism, the images and stories of swimmer Nguyen Hong Loi left students surprised, moved and in awe.

Having won many national and international medals, what makes Mr. Loi special is his spirit of not surrendering to fate.
For media students, being able to directly capture this moment is a valuable opportunity to learn how to tell stories with images, emotions, and empathy.
Through the meaningful photography internship, the story of Nguyen Hong Loi's will to live and his determination to succeed will stay forever in the luggage of the students - the future media workers.
