Long Chau and Merck implement free screening, for a healthier Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - From July to October, Long Chau and Merck implemented large-scale community screening programs, focusing on three chronic diseases: diabetes, pre-diabetes, thyroid disease and hypertension.

Long Chau Pharmacy and Merck Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Merck) have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the community with the theme “Innovation in chronic disease screening for a healthier Vietnam”. The event is not only an important milestone in the cooperative relationship between the two units, but also opens a new step in the journey to improve the quality of public health care in Vietnam.

Under the cooperation framework, Long Chau and Merck will implement large-scale community screening programs from July to October, focusing on three common chronic diseases that are posing major challenges to the healthcare system in Vietnam: diabetes, pre-diabetes, thyroid disease and hypertension.

The program will be held in many provinces and cities, the two units will coordinate with medical facilities and a team of medical experts and specialists to directly carry out the screening process, provide consultation and support people in early detection and effective disease care.

With an early approach from the pre-disease stage, activities will focus on identifying and detecting risks before clinical symptoms appear.

For diabetes, the program helps detect early in the pre-diabetes stage, facilitating timely intervention, lifestyle adjustments and slowing disease progression.

In the group of endocrine diseases, especially hypothyroidism - a common disorder in women, early screening plays an important role in minimizing the impact on overall health, fertility and the risk of progression to thyroid cancer.

In addition, for people with high blood pressure, blood pressure will be measured in combination with heart rate assessment, contributing to comprehensive control and prevention of serious cardiovascular complications and stroke.
