If you are so worried that you lose sleep for days, see your doctor for a check-up.

Anxiety can sometimes get out of control and the sufferer needs to see a psychiatrist or psychotherapist for help. Anxiety is a psychological disorder that will show the following signs:

Body symptoms

A person should seek medical attention if anxiety causes physical symptoms such as abdominal pain, excessive sweating, headaches, rapid heartbeat, and shortness of breath. These symptoms are often accompanied by an event.

For example, every time you have to participate in social activities, you get anxious to the point of having a stomachache. Every time you leave the house, you sweat so much that you are anxious. Every time you talk to a stranger on the phone, your heart suddenly beats abnormally fast. These are all signs that your anxiety is no longer normal and needs to be checked.

Cognitive symptoms

People with anxiety should also be checked if their anxiety is accompanied by insomnia, difficulty concentrating or memory problems. Especially with insomnia, anxiety will linger in the mind and make it difficult for the person to fall asleep early in the evening. If they unfortunately wake up in the middle of the night, the worries will continue to invade the mind and make it impossible to fall asleep again.

Thinking too much

Anxiety is accompanied by overthinking, which sometimes makes the sufferer not pay attention to what is going on around them. At this point, anxiety has begun to disrupt life.

Panic attack

People often mistake panic attacks for low blood sugar or a heart attack. Excessive anxiety can trigger a panic attack, which can be accompanied by symptoms such as chest tightness, rapid heartbeat, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, and abdominal pain. In case this is a real heart attack, the person should be taken to the emergency room immediately.

When you feel anxiety that seems to linger all day, lasts from day to day, and is accompanied by at least one of the above symptoms, you should see a psychiatrist or psychotherapist for help, according to Psychology Today .
