Since September 2024, when Huawei launched the Mate XT - the world's first tri-fold screen phone, the technology market has witnessed enthusiasm from many major companies racing to develop similar products.
However, so far, the Mate XT is still the only commercially available tri-fold phone model.
Samsung is likely to be the next manufacturer to enter this potential segment. Information about a device with model number SM-F9680 has just been discovered on the database of China Compulsory Certification (CCC), the licensing agency for technology products in the billion-people market.

Insiders say SM-F9680 is the code name of Samsung's first tri-fold screen phone.
The product's appearance on CCC shows that the Korean tech giant is completing the necessary procedures, signaling that the launch date is not far away. However, it is not clear whether this is a version exclusively for the Chinese market or will be distributed globally.
The CCC listing doesn’t reveal much about the product, except for the 25W charging capacity. This number may disappoint users, especially when compared to Huawei’s Mate XT, which supports up to 66W fast charging.
Previous leaks have suggested that Samsung's tri-fold phone could be called the Galaxy G Fold, with a screen that expands to a maximum of 10.4 inches.
Previously, Samsung had demonstrated prototypes of three-fold screen smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) from 2022, but so far no commercial products have been introduced to the market.

In the context of the smartphone market gradually becoming saturated with products with similar designs, Samsung's early launch of a triple-folding screen phone is considered a strategic move to create a difference, attract users and affirm its pioneering position in folding screen technology.
