VnExpressVnExpress04/10/2023

The first holiday of the year lasts from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024, Saturday through the following Monday.

The Labor Code stipulates that New Year's Day is one day off. January 1, 2024 is Monday, plus two weekend days, so workers get three consecutive days off.

More than a month after the New Year, workers will have a Lunar New Year holiday. The date of the holiday has not been finalized, but the holiday is expected to last 7 days. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed two options to get opinions from ministries and branches before submitting them to the Government .

Option one is from December 29, Quy Mao, to January 5, Giap Thin (February 8-14, 2024). Option two is from December 30, Quy Mao, to January 6, Giap Thin (February 9-15, 2024). The Ministries of Home Affairs , Culture, Sports and Tourism agree with option one.

Vietnam has 5 public holidays, Tet with 11 official days in a year. If the holiday falls on a weekend, workers will be compensated with the next working day off to conveniently rest, return home or travel.

Workers who work overtime and at night during this time will receive at least 300% of their salary. Foreigners working in Vietnam outside the general schedule will receive an additional day off for the traditional New Year and one day off for their country's National Day.
