(NLDO) - The tunnel project through Da Nang airport has a plan to build a subway line along with the road, costing about 10,000 billion VND.

The Department of Construction of Da Nang City has just reported on the construction plan of the East-West traffic connection route through Da Nang airport and the Han River tunnel.

Accordingly, the East-West traffic connection project through Da Nang airport is proposed to have a tunnel length of more than 2.9 km. This includes two open tunnel sections with a total length of 570 m, three box tunnel sections with a total length of 1,450 m and a tunnel through the existing runway of 900 m.

The Department of Construction has proposed two options: Option 1 is a subway line (MRT) that goes with the road. Option 2 is an MRT line that does not go with the road.

Da Nang City Department of Construction proposes 2 options for building a tunnel through the airport

In option 1, the technical difficulty is high, so the estimated cost is about 10,000 billion VND, with an average safety/operation level, difficulty in expanding MRT, and a high level of suitability for Da Nang airport infrastructure.

Option 2 costs about 7,500 billion VND, has high safety/operation level, easy to expand MRT, and is suitable for the average infrastructure of Da Nang airport.

The Department of Construction recommends not combining the arrangement of MRT lines and shared roads due to different technical standards.

For the Han River tunnel project, according to the proposal, the total length of the main tunnel is about 1.67 km; including a 600 m closed tunnel across the river, a 380 m closed tunnel on the bank and a 415 m open tunnel. The starting point of the tunnel connects to Dong Da Street (Hai Chau District), the end point connects to Van Don Street (Son Tra District).

The total investment for the project is expected to be 6,880 billion VND. Of which, 3,900 billion VND is for construction, the rest is for site clearance and resettlement costs...
