Việt NamViệt Nam08/04/2023

At the kite flying festival on Thien Ma mountain, some tourists tried flying kites but none lasted more than 5 minutes.

On March 19, on Thien Ma Mountain, on the north bank of Tra Khuc River, thousands of people attended the kite flying festival. This is a program organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai and the Kite Sky Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, said: "The three days of kite flying attracted thousands of people to watch. This is an opportunity to promote the image of Quang Ngai province to neighboring provinces in the Central region and the whole country," Mr. Dung said.

Dozens of kites were released into the sky in many shapes such as lizards, octopuses, and squids, attracting hundreds of people to watch, especially between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The kite festival was lively as some spectators wanted to experience "kite flying". A young man could not stand still because of the wind and had difficulty keeping his balance. He was held from behind by a kite club expert to control him.
Phung Van Tuan, 20 years old, asked to follow. The club's expert, upon receiving this request, continued to stay behind to guide the young man in coordinating the force when flying the kite.
After a while of being guided by a professional, Tuan got used to it and was less nervous. He relaxed when the kite flew steadily. However, Tuan could not last more than 5 minutes. "This sport is as tiring as weight training, although it is very fun," Tuan said.

Before that, from 9am, Kite Sky club members had started the wind for the kites. Mr. Hong Phuong (white hat), from Binh Son district, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, was one of the people who connected to bring the kites to Quang Ngai . He said he had wanted this for a long time but now it has come true.

Artisan Le Van Quy stretches a string to release a large kite into the sky. As a veteran in this art form, he is very happy to bring his favorite art form to the people of Quang Ngai and feels happy with the warmth of the people here.
The kite flying event also featured dozens of colorful and shaped kites. The lizard-shaped kite delighted many people because of its cuteness.
The kite simulates a squid, blending into the blue sky.
Many children also followed their parents to attend the kite festival on the weekend.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung added that the kite festival was held on the occasion of the province receiving the certificate of recognition as a special national relic of Sa Huynh Culture, and to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Ngai Province (March 24). Before the kite flying session on Thien Ma Mountain, the club flew kites at An Khe lagoon and Co Luy bridge.
