Vietnam People's Police II defeated Singapore team 3-0.
The highlight of the first round was the match between the Vietnam People's Police I and Cambodia. Taking the field with a young squad including many Hanoi Police U21 players, the home team entered the match with determination but still encountered many difficulties against Cambodia - a team with many players currently playing professionally in the country's National Championship.
In the first 20 minutes, Cambodia effectively took advantage of the home team's defensive mistakes to score two consecutive goals. It was not until the end of the first half that Vietnam People's Police I was able to shorten the score after Hai Binh's accurate finish from a free kick on the right wing.
In the second half, the home team strengthened their squad by sending in two players who are playing for V-League clubs, Trung Anh and Ngoc Thang. Although The Cuong scored another goal for the Vietnam People's Public Security I, Cambodia continued to show their sharpness in finishing, setting the final score at 4-2.
At PVF Stadium, Vietnam People's Public Security II had a favorable start when they defeated Singapore with a score of 3-0. Duc Nam scored a double, while Tran Van Hoa contributed a goal, bringing a convincing victory to the second representative of the host.
In the remaining matches of the day, Group A witnessed Thailand's easy 2-0 victory over Laos, with goals from Pasakorn Nonthakamchanra (minute 6, penalty) and Sutin Iamsa-Ard (minute 67).
Meanwhile, Group B saw a flurry of goals as Timor-Leste thrashed Australia 7-1. Silveiro shone with a poker, Juvencio scored twice and Zeferino contributed a goal. Dao Anh Tuan was the honorary scorer for the team from Oceania.
The above results show the professional quality and high competitiveness of this year's tournament, and open up many attractive scenarios for the next matches.
