Groundbreaking ceremony of location No. 5, Da Nang Free Trade Zone and many other projects

DNO - On the afternoon of August 27, Sun Group Corporation and the City People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony to start the investment, construction and business of infrastructure of functional area No. 5 - Da Nang City Free Trade Zone; cable car route No. 9 and a cluster of resort hotels, entertainment houses, and multi-purpose performance houses in the Ba Na - Suoi Mo ecological tourism and urban complex.

Attending the event on the Central side were Party Central Committee member, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Thai Thanh Quy.

On the city's side, there were Party Central Committee member, City Party Committee Secretary, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Van Quang; Alternate Party Central Committee member, City Party Committee Deputy Secretary, City People's Committee Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; City Party Committee Deputy Secretary, City People's Council Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung; City Party Committee Deputy Secretary Ngo Xuan Thang; City Fatherland Front Committee Chairman Le Tri Thanh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said that Da Nang is in a new stage of development with new opportunities. The city was voted by the British magazine "Time Out" as one of the 8 most worth-visiting destinations in Asia in 2025.

Da Nang is also listed in the "Top 10 Asian cities with the highest rate of returning visitors" by Agoda. These titles are a worthy recognition of the tireless efforts of the entire political system, business community and people of the city.

Da Nang currently possesses many outstanding advantages in terms of tourism resources and a modern infrastructure system, including an international airport, seaport, road traffic network, and increasingly complete service facilities.

The city is facing a golden opportunity to become a strategic growth pole of the country, a leading tourist city in Asia, but also faces significant challenges to achieve the set goals, requiring the city to take strategic, bold and decisive steps.

Among the 3 projects that were started today, the project to invest in construction and business of infrastructure of functional area No. 5 has the meaning of "activating" the Da Nang Free Trade Zone established under Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

This is a particularly important project, of strategic significance to the city's socio-economic development. The project is expected to strengthen Da Nang's role as an important trade gateway for the Central region and the whole country, gradually becoming an important link in the global supply chain network and the Asia-Pacific region.

Along with that, two projects belonging to the Ba Na - Suoi Mo Eco-tourism and Urban Area complex will be works contributing to completing the classy and multi-experience ecosystem in Ba Na, meeting the increasing demand of tourists, especially when Da Nang aims to welcome tens of millions of visitors each year.

City leaders requested Sun Group to quickly carry out necessary procedures to soon put the project into construction and ensure progress.

At the same time, the city's departments and branches need to take urgent action to support investors and especially people in the project area, ensuring quick stabilization of their lives.

Chairman of Sun Group Central Region Nguyen Van Binh informed that along with the launch of position 5 of Da Nang Free Trade Zone, 2 important items of Ba Na - Suoi Mo Eco-tourism and Urban Area complex were launched today with a scale of up to 52,000 billion VND.

These two projects are considered important pieces, contributing to completing the rich tourism, entertainment and resort ecosystem that Sun Group has been creating in Da Nang, contributing to realizing the goal of developing the night-time economy set by the city.

When completed, the projects will not only create unique tourism products for Da Nang in the new era, but also contribute to turning the Han River city into a vibrant entertainment center day and night, worthy of its position as a tourist capital of the Central region.

Sun Group is committed to mobilizing all resources, complying with regulations on construction, labor safety and environmental protection, and completing projects on schedule.

Previously, on August 26, 2025, the City People's Committee issued Decision No. 1175/QD-UBND approving the investment policy and investor for the project to invest in construction and business of infrastructure of the functional area at location No. 5, in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

The investor is Ba Na Cable Car Service Joint Stock Company (Sun Group Corporation), headquartered in An Son village, Ba Na commune, Da Nang city. The project scale is about 90 hectares, the project objective is real estate business, land use rights of owners, users or renters.

The total investment capital is expected to be over 808 billion VND, and the project will be implemented in Ba Na commune. The project's operating period is 70 years from the date of the decision approving the investment policy and approving the investor.
