The coastal road is a traffic axis to connect coastal areas, contributing to the effective exploitation of resources. Thereby, promoting socio-economic development of coastal localities, creating new development spaces, promoting tourism development and contributing to strengthening national defense, security and protecting national sovereignty . Coastal road
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee on the route plan and implementation results of the coastal road project of Vinh Long province, the route starts from the coastal road of Tien Giang province (now Dong Thap province), crosses the Cua Dai river, connects with coastal communes, crosses the Ba Lai, Ham Luong, and Co Chien rivers. The route connects with Dai Ngai bridge on National Highway 60 and a branch connects with Dinh An Economic Zone, Dinh An seaport. The total length of the project is 112.7km.
Based on the Government's resolution and the Central Government's regulations, the People's Committees of Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces (formerly, now Vinh Long province) have implemented 5 projects including: the project to build Cua Dai bridge connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang province; building Ba Lai 8 bridge on the coastal road of Ben Tre province; building a coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces; building a coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces; building Co Chien 2 bridge connecting Ben Tre province with Tra Vinh province; building a coastal corridor road in Tra Vinh.
In particular, the Cua Dai bridge construction project on the coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang province was approved by the People's Committee of Ben Tre province (formerly) in Decision No. 2554 with a total investment of nearly 4,565 billion VND. The total length is about 8.9km. To date, the selection of contractors to establish tasks and survey consultants and prepare a feasibility study report has been completed. The project is scheduled to be approved in the fourth quarter of 2025.
In addition, the project to build Ba Lai 8 bridge on the coastal road of Ben Tre province was approved by the People's Committee of Ben Tre province in Decision No. 3036 with a total investment of VND 2,255 billion. Construction package No. 01 (road and small bridges), construction package No. 02 (main bridge and access road) started construction in 2024, construction package No. 03 started construction in April 2025; expected to be completed in the third and fourth quarters of 2026. Currently, the project is facing difficulties due to the scarcity of materials (sand, stone) and site clearance problems. Therefore, the locality needs to urgently resolve the backlog and promptly hand over the site to the construction unit.
The project to build a coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1011, with a total investment of VND 7,905 billion. The total length of the route is 25.2km. The investor has completed the selection of a contractor to survey and prepare a pre-feasibility study report, and the consulting contractor is implementing the project.
The project to build Co Chien 2 Bridge, connecting Ben Tre province with Tra Vinh province, was approved by the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province in Decision No. 767, with a total investment of 3,500 billion VND. The total length is about 5km. The investor is selecting a consultant to survey and prepare a feasibility study report. The project is scheduled to be approved in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The project to build the coastal corridor of Tra Vinh province was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 168. The Provincial People's Council approved the investment policy in Resolution No. 14, with a total investment of nearly VND 9,187 billion. The total length of the route is 60.7km. The investor is selecting a consultant to survey and prepare a pre-feasibility study report. The project is scheduled to be approved in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Strive to complete before 2030
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document directing the implementation of Official Dispatch No. 131 dated August 11, 2025 of the Prime Minister on accelerating the investment progress in the construction of the coastal road system.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance, the Department of Construction, the Traffic Project Management Board and relevant agencies and units to study the Prime Minister's directive to "determine that accelerating the progress of investment implementation to soon complete the entire coastal road is one of the important political tasks to focus on leadership, direction, and allocation of legal resources. It is necessary to specify the task of completing coastal road projects in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term as a goal to strive for completion".
In this document, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and the Vinh Long Provincial Transport Project Management Board to study item c, clause 1 of the telegram on accelerating the progress of investment in the construction of the coastal road system, review, implement and advise the Provincial People's Committee to prioritize the arrangement of the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030, other legal capital sources to invest and upgrade the routes to meet the socio-economic development needs of the locality.
At the same time, it is recommended that the Vinh Long Provincial Transport Project Management Board urgently accelerate investment preparation (especially ODA projects) to implement construction, striving to complete the entire coastal road route of Vinh Long province before 2030.
Chairing the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to listen to the report of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee on the preparation of proposals to the Central Government on works and projects under the province's medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030 and the plan and progress of implementing the coastal corridor road, comrade Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that it is necessary to pay attention to prioritizing important works and projects, opening up space, creating momentum for the development of the province such as: National Highway 53, Long Ho - Ba Si section; National Highway 54 from the old Binh Tan district to the old Cau Ke district; Lang The freshwater lake project phase 2... and especially investing in the coastal road of Vinh Long province. |
