The workshop is organized by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Green Economy Institute; scheduled to take place on the morning of June 28, 2025 at Dalat Palace Hotel with more than 200 delegates attending.
The workshop aims to strengthen connections and exploit the potential for cooperation between Lam Dong province and the Republic of Cuba in the field of biomedicine and biotechnology. At the same time, it concretizes and implements Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
This is a forum that directly connects management agencies, experts, scientists, and leading biomedical science and technology organizations of Cuba and Vietnam; proposes and discusses the content and mechanism of cooperation, promotes technology transfer, trains experts, develops applied products based on inventions, patents, and technical solutions with commercialization potential of Cuban scientists in the treatment of cancer, stroke, diabetes, public health care, and applications in high-tech agriculture .
Deploying and concretizing the contents of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW in the field of Biomedicine, Public Health Care, associated with the potential, development orientation and practical needs of Lam Dong province in terms of health and biotechnology. The workshop also realizes the direction of Comrade To Lam - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam during his state visit to the Republic of Cuba in 2024, with the content that the two sides agreed to promote research, expand cooperation in agriculture and food processing industry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical services, digital transformation, innovation and other fields.
Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Workshop strategically positions Lam Dong province to become a center for biomedical innovation in the South: Initiating the process of establishing the Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Center in Lam Dong, aiming to develop a bio-industrial park; affirming the role of Lam Dong province as a bridge in the chain of innovation in Medicine - Science - Agriculture based on local resources. Discussing some issues on which Vietnam and Cuba can cooperate and support each other in research and transfer of science and technology in the agricultural sector (cultivation, animal husbandry, post-harvest processing technology, etc.).
The workshop will focus on the following objectives: Discussing and suggesting, proposing a number of breakthrough policies and mechanisms, especially the legal framework for controlled testing (sandbox) for the transfer, research, development and commercialization of biotechnology and biomedicine in Lam Dong, gradually concretizing and implementing Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW and No. 68-NQ/TW into life. Signing a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation (between the Green Economy Institute and Cuban partners (Labiofam, CIGB, CNIC). Proposing and receiving comments to complete the Project on establishing the Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Cooperation Center in Lam Dong. Establishing joint working groups to implement the project after the workshop. Creating a media spillover effect and attracting the attention of the business community in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic development in general and the field of biotechnology and biomedicine in particular.
According to the Plan, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned specific tasks to each relevant department and sector to prepare well the conditions and content of the Workshop. In particular, the Department of Health presides over and coordinates with the Green Economy Institute and relevant agencies, units, departments and sectors to develop documents to organize the International Workshop according to regulations; prepare content and ensure medical work to serve the Workshop...
