According to i24news , on June 17, the IDF announced the successful assassination of Major General Ali Shadmani - Iran's wartime Chief of Staff and one of the country's highest-ranking military commanders.
"Mr. Shadmani was killed in a precision airstrike targeting a manned headquarters in central Tehran, Iran," the IDF said.
The attack was carried out after the IDF's Intelligence Directorate received information that an assassination attempt could be carried out against one of the highest-ranking figures in the Iranian military.
General Ali Shadmani was appointed to head the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command a few days ago after his predecessor Alam Ali Rashid was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Under Shadmani's leadership, the "Khatem Al-Anbiya" Central Command is responsible for overseeing combat operations and approving plans to target the State of Israel.
Prior to his promotion, Shadmani served as deputy commander of the Central Command and head of the Operations Department of the Iranian General Staff. Throughout his military career, he played a key role in coordinating missile launches, drone strikes, and other hostile operations against Israel.
The assassination of Shadmani marks another blow to Iran’s military command structure amid ongoing fighting. Israeli officials say the operation is part of a broader strategy to disrupt Iran’s ability to launch coordinated attacks in the region.
