The Swedish striker boarded a plane to leave Liverpool just minutes after completing the most expensive transfer in English football history with the Anfield club.

Isak is eagerly awaiting his Liverpool debut.

Liverpool Echo reports that Alexander Isak has had no time to rest, shortly after completing a €144m move from Newcastle United to Liverpool on deadline day of the 2025 summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old spent the entire day on August 31 in Merseyside completing formalities, including a medical and media duties. Immediately after leaving Liverpool's headquarters, he immediately headed to the airport to join the Swedish national team for the international fixtures.

Sweden will face Slovenia and Kosovo in the European qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup. Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson said: “I have spoken to Isak. We expect him to be with the team on September 1. He is extremely professional and in good spirits. Alex is also very stable and has good control of his emotions. We are not worried. He is not yet ready to play 90 minutes, but he can be a game-changer.”

Despite not playing for three months, and even refusing to train with Newcastle during pre-season, Isak has retained his place in the national team. Since making his debut in 2017, the striker has made 52 appearances for Sweden, scoring 16 goals.
