Lopez stays in Barcelona.

According to Athletic , Chelsea are considering signing Lopez this summer and have contacted the Spanish midfielder's representatives. The Blues have also made an initial offer of 40 million euros, but Barcelona have immediately rejected it.

The message from Barcelona was clear: they did not want to sell Lopez. After asking for 70 million euros, the Camp Nou team decided to increase Lopez's asking price to 90 million euros, with the intention of discouraging Chelsea.

This drastic move caused Chelsea to stop negotiating and withdraw from the deal. Lopez personally also continued to stay at Barcelona after the summer transfer window closed.

Previously, Barcelona's board of directors wanted to sell Lopez to improve the club's financial situation, but faced opposition from coach Hansi Flick. At a press conference before the match against Levante on August 24, coach Flick strongly affirmed: "I want Fermin and Marc Casado to stay. The season is long and very difficult, I need all the players."

Lopez renewed his contract with Barcelona in October 2024, running until 2029. The midfielder is a product of Barcelona's La Masia academy and had a breakthrough 2023/24 season under coach Xavi.

In the 2024/25 season, Lopez played 46 matches in all competitions and scored 8 goals for Barcelona.

Barca's 4 goals against Real On the night of May 11, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-3 in round 35, thereby touching the La Liga championship.
