The special cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cuba continues to develop well.

On the morning of September 2, at the National Assembly Headquarters, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on the occasion of his State visit to Vietnam and to attend activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez to return to visit and attend Vietnam's important Anniversary Ceremony in the context of the two countries celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), considering this a new historical milestone in bilateral relations, vividly demonstrating the special friendship between the Parties, States and peoples of the two countries.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman sent his regards to Revolutionary Leader Raul Castro, National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo, and leaders of the Cuban Party, State and National Assembly.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that over the past 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the special cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, has continuously developed well, becoming a brotherly relationship with high political trust, a model in international relations. The Party, State and people of Vietnam attach great importance to and are determined to further deepen the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba in all channels and in all fields.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always stands shoulder to shoulder, accompanies and supports the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.

President Miguel Diaz Canel expressed his delight at leading a high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Party and State to return to visit Vietnam; on behalf of the Cuban Party, State and people, he sent warm congratulations to the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Sharing good memories of previous visits to Vietnam, the First Secretary and President of Cuba highly appreciated Vietnam's recent achievements in socio-economic development and foreign affairs; expressed special impressions of the heroic atmosphere, the participation of a large number of people at this important commemorative event of the country, as well as the warm feelings of the Vietnamese people for the delegation.

First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez highly appreciated the recent positive developments in bilateral relations, especially the results and significance of General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to Cuba in September 2024 and the regular high-level visits between the two countries, which have deepened bilateral relations. A number of new cooperation projects between the two countries have been initially successful, bringing positive results.

Comrade Diaz-Canel affirmed that he will direct ministries, branches and localities to create special mechanisms and conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to successfully operate in Cuba in strategic fields such as agriculture, energy and biotechnology, gradually expanding to many other potential fields.

The First Secretary and President of Cuba expressed his emotion and sincere gratitude for Vietnam's practical support in many fields, especially in agriculture and food security in recent years; thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for implementing the Program to support the Cuban people on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, with the response of the majority of people, considering this a vivid manifestation of the tradition of solidarity, friendship, purity and loyalty between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to cooperate closely with the Cuban National Assembly in increasing high-level visits and contacts, preparing for the 2nd Session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, promoting exchanges and cooperation between localities and between the two Parliamentary Friendship Groups; enhancing the sharing of legislative experience, and effective coordination at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and multilateral parliamentary forums.

The President also emphasized the importance of promoting propaganda among the people and educating the young generation of the two countries to continue the fine tradition of the special relationship between the two countries founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed his delight at the positive development of relations between the two National Assemblies, making positive and substantial contributions to consolidating and strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba; thanked Vietnam and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for their warm, respectful and thoughtful reception; conveyed the invitation from Cuban National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to pay an official visit to Cuba. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the invitation and will arrange the visit at a suitable time.
