Joining the joyful and excited atmosphere of the whole country, Can Tho city also held many exciting activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious revolutionary tradition of the nation, affirmed the leadership role of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh in the cause of fighting for independence, building and defending the Fatherland; thereby expressing pride in the development achievements of the country after 80 years, encouraging the spirit of solidarity, arousing the will to rise up in the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people of Can Tho city.
Promoting that spirit, the Party Committee, Government and people of Can Tho city are determined to unite, strive, overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully carry out the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and build and develop the city sustainably.
With its central location in the Mekong Delta, Can Tho city has many potentials, advantages and cultural identities of the river region, creating favorable conditions for the city in socio-economic development and international integration.
In particular, from July 1, 2025, Can Tho city, Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces will merge into a new Can Tho city. The city's socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2025 will continue to remain stable and achieve many positive results.
Specifically, economic growth (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 7.87%, higher than the national average; the economic scale reaches nearly 144 trillion VND; total social investment capital reaches nearly 38.3 trillion VND, up 10.38% over the same period in 2024....
In the coming time, Can Tho city will continue to synchronously carry out the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, and political system building in the spirit of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing the city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
In particular, the city is determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th City Party Congress; mobilize all resources to develop socio-economic infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, and promote disbursement of public investment capital to meet requirements.
Strive to build and develop Can Tho into a central city of the region, an ecological, civilized, modern city, imbued with the identity of the Mekong Delta river region, contributing more and more to the common achievements of the whole country.
The program ended with a fireworks display at 3 locations. This was the closing activity, creating a brilliant highlight, spreading the spirit of pride, encouraging the spirit of solidarity and the desire for development of the people of Can Tho city.
